While no specific specs have been announced yet, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has passed along to Video Business that the DVD and Blu-Ray editions for their summer blockbuster Hancock will be available on November 25, 2008. Director Peter Berg led the Will Smith vehicle, which opened into theaters on July 2. It opened to the tune of $62.6 million and has grossed $558.7 million worldwide since its release. Here's what the site had to say on it.

Movies including heavyweights Hancock and Kung Fu Panda changed dates at least once in recent weeks, with Hancock settling on Nov. 25 and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment making its official announcement of the title...

Hancock will arrive as a single standard DVD ($28.96), two-disc standard DVD and BD ($39.95). Its two-disc and BD versions will carry seven featurettes. The BD edition will include exclusive picture-in-picture interactivity.

I really liked this movie, even the stupid twist was OK. I remember reading somewhere that Peter Berg cut like 30 minutes from this movie to make it more of a comedy as opposed to a comedy/drama. I wonder if A) that is true and B) if it is, are they going to do a directors cut of the movie. I would like to see what they cut. Bring on the Blu-Ray

I thought this movie was a piece of shit and was no better than My Super Ex Girlfriend, at least the version that was shown in theaters.

I will buy it however if they include an unrated edition, because a lot of stuff was indeed cut because at least two times it couldn't get a pg13 rating from the MPAA.

The film was supposed to be much more vulgar and graphic and I have a disturbing desire to see the guy's head shoved up the other's ass.

*mild spoiler alert*

Anyone ever get what the significance of the eagle was? Dude had this huge eagle motif going on.

And yeah, it was great until they got into his origin. Origin stories are over done to the point that people are getting sick of them. How many times do we need to hear "something tragic happened, then something miraculous happened (or vice versa), and thus Ultra-Mega-Neo-Aardvark Man was born!"

"Hancock will arrive as a single standard DVD ($28.96), two-disc standard DVD and BD ($39.95)."

WTF? $30 for a single DVD and $40 for 2d DVD and BD? Seriously??

Why the hell are they priced so high? Standard DVD's run no higher than $15, and BD I thought was around the $25. That's ridiculous! The movie was good but it wasn't no TDK. Hell, I wouldn't even dish out that kind of money for TDK, and that movie light years better than Hancock.

Looks like I'll be waiting for Netflix to send this to me in the mail.

I'll save you the trouble, Uatu. Don't watch this one. John Hancock is really the last survivor of a doomed planet. He was sent here as a child to protect us from ourselves.
