Hank Azaria has been cast in two high-profile upcoming genre films this morning, says the Hollywood Reporter. The trade reports Azaria getting cast as an all-powerful Egyptian pharaoh named Kah Mun Rah in Night at the Museum 2: Escape from the Smithsonian and also hopping on board Judd Apatow's upcoming Year One. He'll be playing Abraham in the Apatow-produced & Harold Ramis-directed biblical times era comedy.
For the "Museum" sequel, Azaria will be starring alongside the already attached Ben Stiller and Amy Adams. Shawn Levy is directing a script written by Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon. Scott Frank wrote the most recent draft.
Plot Concept: The film kicks off when the artifacts from the Museum of Natural History are boxed up and sent to the archives at the Smithsonian in Washington. Adams will play an undetermined historical figure who has a crush on security guard Larry (Stiller). Azaria will play an all-powerful Egyptian pharaoh named Kah Mun Rah.
Night at the Museum 2: Escape from the Smithsonian will hit theaters May 22, 2009.
Year One will hit theaters June 19, 2009.
