Oscar-winner Tom Hanks (THE POLAR EXPRESS) is the man wanted to break THE DA VINCI CODE. Over the past 48 hours news reports have trickled out that Hanks is the actor that DA VINCI director Ron Howard has in mind to play the part of Robert Langdon, the Harvard professor that discovers clues to a hidden society embedded within the Catholic Church. No deal is yet in place for Hanks to take on the role but it's likely it will happen.
Howard's movie is based on the wildly popular novel by Dan Brown. CODE is actually the second adventure for the character of Langdon, opening the door for Hanks to possibly play the part again and launch his first ever franchise.
If a deal is struck for Hanks it will be the third film that he's worked on for Howard, after 1984's SPLASH and 1995's APOLLO 13.
