Can I get some advice!?
(Sun 06/22/2008 03:44pm)

Yo,so check it:

I was using my computer last night, surfing the web and then BAM!  Pop up messege saying a Spyware virus or whatever had gotten access to my IP Address, Country info and I don't know what else.

When I tried to keep on surfing, it kept givin this error messege and the computer went ape shit.

I wiped out the hard drive and reinstalled the operating system and I found a free antivirus that works with Vista, it's AVG soft I believe.  Everything is workin fine now.  Anyway, any of you peeps know if that Spyware shit can get my credit card number or some shit?  I wasn't using the credit card when it hit so I would like to know.  Don't know much about computers in that regard,so any information you may have is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

hmmm... I don't think you'll have any problems with your credit card. Something similar happenned to me last year, and nothing bad came out of it... except the wiping the hard drive part, which made me lose some stuff I didn't have any back-up for...

Happened to me too a couple of years ago. I actually ended up buying the Mcaffee suite over the net, since it downloads from the site. It costs me 60 dollars a years and it continually updates itself and warns me about possible dangerous sites. I of course heed the advice and surf away. Love that Mcaffee, I think it's worth the price myself.

Didn't have any problems with personal info of any type when this happened. But I did monitored my accounts for the next couple of months just to make sure no funny shit was going down.

hanso, I'm a Mac man and my knowledge of Windows is very limited, but I doubt they got any of your credit card information. They may have tagged your IP, but that's it from the sound of it. That shit should really be against the law. Track your credit cards for a couple of days just to be on the safe side, but you're probably going to be ok.
