Hanso\\\'s Movie List

7/9/2009 4:18:38 PM permalink

Hello you beautiful bitches!   Welcome, welcome.

So check it out peeps, this is how it\\\'s going down today.  During the course of this week I stumbled upon Will Ferrell and Adam Mckay\\\'s list of movies to see before you die.  It was a 14 movie list that left out classics on purpose, the went for stuff they found cool and wouldn\\\'t be on everyone lists.

So I\\\'m doing my own list but not movies to see before you die.  This will be films I think are awesome, some underrated and didn\\\'t break $100 million box office in the States.

What I would like is for you guys to post your own list so that I can laugh how ridiculous it is when compared to my awesome list and then I can point and laugh at you and pat myself in the back for being so awesome.  I\'m joking kids, I won\'t point.

But for realz, post your list so that incase I haven\\\'t see the film I might ,sometime in this dreadful summer of movies, check it out.

There is only 1 rule.  And no, tonight you won\'t break my one rule.  You must pick films that didn\\\'t break $100 million and you think they are awesome.

Here\\\'s my list in no order.  Enjoy:

Children of Men

Carlito\\\'s Way

Eastern Promises

Chasing Amy

Office Space

Point Break

Lost Boys

I\\\'ll stop here cause I can\\\'t think of anymore of the top of my head and I don\\\'t want to put more gangster films in the list.  Miller\\\'s Crossing is an underrated gangster film though.\\\\

Hey hanso, are you going to see Bruno today?

Cause I certainly am.

I'll take up your list later...I'll have to think about it for awhile...after Bruno, of course. :)

hanso 7/10/2009 6:14:41 AM

Nah, I can't go today.   Going Saturday for sure.

StarlightGuard 7/10/2009 12:44:03 PM

oh hell hanso you're going to laugh your ass off at Bruno....

you know, if you're really interested in something DIFFERENT, I'll make these suggestions

I'd offer more mainstream selections, but from what I've come to know about you, you're too savvy to recommend the standard hollywood fare

so try these on for size:

Woody Allen's "Deconstructing Harry," "Mighty Aphrodite," "Everyone Says I Love You," and "Stardust Memories."

I'd recommend "Match Point" as well, but I haven't seen it.

I know "Hogfather" is on DVD as a mini-series, and it's based on a Discworld novel of the same name. "Color of Magic" is another Discworld mini-series, based on the first two books in the series. I'm not sure if "Color of Magic" is on dvd yet or not, though.

Right off hand I can't think of anything else. So, to recap:

Deconstructing Harry
Mighty Aphrodite
Everyone Says I Love You
Stardust Memories
The Color of Magic

if you're feeling adventurous, you can read "The Solitaire Mystery" by Jostein's a great philosophical fantasy

Now that you bring up Woody Allen, I checked out "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" this week.  It's alright but I wished there would've shown a threesome going on.  I think I might checkout Match Point cause it's the newer of the ones you mentioned.

Dude, I did end up seeing Bruno today cause I couldn't wait till tommorow.  I laughed tons man but it wasn't better than Borat.  There was some extreme shit going on in that movie though.

Baron Cohen has balls man, to go interview the terrorist and then running around "middle earth" with those clothes on.  You know those people ran after him for real.

I thought the ending was the best, the cage match.  People went beserk and that chair they threw almost nailed him, lol.

It was funny and different than most of the shit that's out rght now so I had a good time.  Next up is Mr. Potter.

StarlightGuard 7/11/2009 7:15:46 AM

Yeah, Cohen's got the cajones.

And likes to show them too. The middle earth bit was funny, and I every so often I hear about how the cage match went down here. Those are my peeps, you know.

As I stated before, thank god I don't know a single one of them. I'm hoping letters to the editor will appear in our newspapers and such, as in "Dear Editor, These Homos Came Here And Filmed Us Being Bastards! When, oh when, will Arkansas be pure again?"

That one guy shouting leave my state! and such was hilarious, along with We don't want this in Arkansas! and on and on.

The more I think about it, the more I realize just how stupid these people are. Hell, can they not see through the "Straight Dave" put on? I know they're retards, but jeez.

I must say I am somewhat surprised you're an active Woody Allen viewer. I have a hard time getting anyone here to watch anything he's done. But "Deconstructing Harry" is's not as shocking as Bruno,'s still good....I love the opening scene, the guy screwing the other man's wife while her blind grandmother comes into the room.
