I went to see the Hunger games over the weekend.  I was not unhappy with the film but certanly I was expecting much more!  My only hope is Wrath ot the Titans until Avengers comes in May

Posted my review already but yes - a solid film but not great. John Carter deserves more than its getting. My rating for hunger games would be 3/5.

Its amazing how well this film is doing. Can the Avengers beat the opening weekend BO of hunger games? Time will tell.

Even if you didn't think it was a great movie you have to admit it was tons better then Twlight. It may be geared towards younger kids/teenagers but the characters have so much more depth then they do in Twlight. Katniss is nothing like Bella, she is her own person, she has her own hobbies and she doesn't even need a man.

Except there was a "Jacob" in this movie as well  ... lol

Never read the books so I didn't know what to expect. The film was entertaining to be sure and better than a lot of the films we've gotten in recent weeks/months, but I'm shocked at the numbers. It wasn't THAT good of a movie IMHO.

It's a shame John Carter didn't connect with audiences.

Looking forward to Wrath. I'm not a WOrthington fan, but the movie looks fun.

I know this is just a box office report, but can we do some spell-check first. Pull an all-nighter Robert?

I agree, I did like John Carter more than Hunger Games but that's the sci-fi/comic fanboy.

If anyone is wondering why JC did not have a Hunger Games type opening it has to do with what's hot now. The Hunger Games trilogy is hot now. Had they decided to make a movie not today, but in 100 years from now, then I'm sure it wouldn't have the same opening weekend.

Another problem with JC is the fact that it's not and hasn't been popular in pop culture over the years. Had there been successful movies or TV shows in the past 100 years, then perhaps it would have drawn more interest.

Avengers will still own.

What's with the short list of info?  I like to see budgets and stuff.

Hunger games had the benefit of being the next tween movie sensation that also appealed to a wider audience over 25 years old.  JC had none of that seeing it was a book series before all of us were born and that the tween generation probably never heard of.

Dazzler, I don't know the rest but I think Hunger Games had a budget of 78 mil if that helps.
