@Wiseguy,

Or adults actually enjoy the series. I can tell you right now that I sought out and read the Hunger Games after seeing it on store shelves and then reading (the very few) critics reviews on the series without much else from anyone else. And not to make it sound like its a "before it was popular" thing, but this was over a year ago before it blew up. I am glad to hear its a solid movie and I can't wait to go check it out. I can't speak for what happened with Twilight as the only adult I know who read the series was my (now) wife and she did so on the recommendation of her younger sister.

They said on the news this morning that it is looking like the demographic numbers after this weekend for Hunger Games are 60% female and 40% male. That's almost split down the middle so for everybody out there that thinks it's a twilight clone, I doubt it will change your mind but there you go. Much much different than the demo numbers for twilight which were like 90% female.

I don't know where this deal about no marketing for TDKR is coming from. As Hanso said there is already a full trailer out and the opening prologue was attached to MI4 plus two posters, minus the awesome viral campaign for the TDK which had the multiple sights it is about exactly the same. But also like Hanso said it doesn't need it. When the trailer was released in december is was the most downloaded trailer of that last year and set a one day download record for a 24 hour period beating out the first avengers trailer. It was beat by the second Avengers trailer when it came out a few months back and only by a little but I expect it to get another good dose of press when the final trailer hits soon. Also check out the BO stats in the article. For highest three day opening Hunger Games is second to The Dark Knight.  I doubt WB is worried about TDKR being a bomb.

 Well, if there is a tween property out there that you love, you can probably expect to see it adapted for the big screen.  Not that that is a bad thing.  Like the idea of books being adapted again over subpar remakes, prequels, etc.  I'm afraid, my taste in literature isn't going to have such a rabid following.  So, I'm no longer a favored demographic.

I'm hearin' what you are saying InnerSanctum. More books-to-movies, less prequels-sequels!

I saw the Hunger Games today, and it was really good. The audience demo I would have to say was a surprising one. 70% male, 30% female. Though, mostly younger than 30.

My predictions are this for opening weekends:

 Wrath of the Titans-$78mil

 Avengers-$165mil

 TDKR-$170mil

 GI:Joe Retaliation-$80mil

 Skyfall007-$70mil

 AL:Vampire Hunter-$65mil

These are only my guesses, but let the sh*t talking of my numbers begin!

Yea, TDKR doesn't need much marketing or at least an in your face marketing blitz. You would have to be living under a rock to not know the movie exist and you have one of the biggest grossing movies of all time as it predecessor that creates enough hype to rival any marketing campaign. I'm sure most movie franchise runners wish they were in TDKR position.

 If Avengers beat DK in BO total (all time record) I hope it takes down Titanic as well.
