Warner Bros. Pictures has added one more to the cast of The Seventh Son, the first adaptation of Joseph Delaney's children's book series known as "The Wardstone Chronicles." Variety reports that Kit Harington ("Game of Thrones") has boarded the production and will be joined by the previously-confirmed stars Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes, Julianne Moore and Alicia Vikander. Director Sergei Bodrov has been charged with the helming duties, based on a screenplay by Chuck Leavitt and Matt Greenberg.

Plot Concept: The story centers on Thomas J. Ward, the seventh son of a seventh son, born in the 1700's with supernatural abilities and who furthers his training with the help of a learned "Spook." The novel is the first in a six-part series by author Joseph Delaney.

The Seventh Son arrives in theaters February 15, 2013.

I really wish they were doing the Alvin Maker series.  I keep seeing postings for this film, which has piqued my interest, and mistakenly get excited that someone is doing Orson Scott Card's books.

I'm not familiar with these books, but the concept sounds interesting, and I really like Kit Harrington as Jon Snow on Game of Thrones...and The Dude abides!  I'd probably see this if the preview looks compelling enough.

Never saw these books.  Like Kit in GoT.

There is one series I don't understand why it is not in development.  DRAGONRIDERS OF PERN.  Sombody get on that.

Never read those, trollman, but heard good things up till the Earth tie-in...one series I would like to have some serious development in is Dragonlance...they can do so much better than that direct to dvd animated abortion they did for Dragons of Autumn Twilight.

That's kind of a crappy plot concept, I still don't have hardly a clue what this is about except there is something to do with magic or something.  (Don't worry, Jarrod, not blaming you, just the press release).

As long as we are talking about things we'd like to see, I'd be all about some of the Greek/Roman mythology stories not watered down for the kiddies.  Don't go overboard ala Spartacus (not a knock on Sparty), but don't tame it down just to hope to get a wider audience.  In other words, don't go the commercial route like Clash of the Titans (again, not really a knock on them, either).

Oh, and I still think a serious take on Bionic 6 would be awesome, but that will be a kiddie comedy if it ever gets made.  Sigh.
