Last year, the producers of the Harry Potter movie franchise over at Warner Bros. released casting calls for the character of Luna Lovegood and Cho Chang other characters appearing throughout HARRY POTTER & ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. They were looking for relative unknowns to play the characters and apparently they were happy with the results after Evanna Lynch and Katie Leung ended up winning the roles.

For the upcoming film adaptation of HALF BLOOD PRINCE, they're using the same strategy for filling in the roles of Lavender Brown (love interest of Mr. Ron Weasley) and Tom Riddle Jr/Voldemort (as he will be shown in his Hogwarts years).

If you're 15-18 years of age and you're living in the London area, you might be interested.

Auditions will be held for the two roles on July 1st at the Earls Court Exhibition Center.

Is the actor who played Tom Riddle in Chamber of Secrets too old?

halfuck1 • Jun 26, 2007, 07:41am •
I think so. He was in his mid-twenties when filming Chamber of Secrets years ago. He's gotta' be pushing 30 now.

And this article suggests that Katie Leung just got the part of Cho Chang for this film, when she was cast back in the fourth film, HP and the Goblet of Fire.

Here's hoping they find another good unknown!

They should be able to find decent actors, even though both characters have technically already been in the early films.

When they auditioned Cho, I heard that 3000 girls showed up. I'm pretty sure that casting Voldemort and "the girl who gets to snog Ron" will bring out more than that.

I know it may be sad that at 31, I am in love with these characters. (not literaly of course). I think this is one of the greatest series ever written. I am actullay scared to read the last book, because I have my theories as to who dies. I think Harry has to sacrifice himself to defeat Voldemort, being that they are linked. Anyone else have ideas as to how it's gonna end?

Actually I do. I think that at the end not Harry but whatsisname, Longbottom will be the one sacrificed. Just a hunch.

So are they replacing the previous Cho? The promo photo I saw with the DA looked like the same Cho, as did the trailer. I'm confused.

imdb says Cho is played by Katie Leung, the same actress from GoF

I think that it meant that they were using the same strategy to cast Tom Jr. & Lavender that they had done to cast Luna & Cho, not that they were recasting them.

Whiskeymovie,

I too am a 31 year-old Potter-phile. I've been rereading the series this summer in anticipation of the upcoming film and book. I will finish up The Order of the Phoenix later this evening.

Sadly, I'm actually going to be out of the country when both the book and film come out, so I will have to avoid the internet entirely when I return (until I finish Deatly Hallows).

If you want check out my blog http://beowulfaz.livejournal.com for my thoughts on the books as I've been rereading.
