TITANIC, the film that pulled in more money than any other in history at the box office, didn't get the kind of money Warner Bros. is said to be seeking for the exclusive TV rights to the coming HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE.
According to the New York Post and TIME magazine, the studio is looking to pull in $70M for the picture, in contrast to the $30M paid for TITANIC.
While talking to TIME, one anonymous network executive spoke of the amount, saying, "It's obscene." It's also noted that that person's unnamed company passed on the film.
Meanwhile, a Warner Bros. spokesperson told the paper that, as yet, the studio has set no amount for the film's TV rights. However, he did note that the studio has met with big shots from Fox, ABC, CBS and NBC for "informational" meetings.
