According to publisher Scholastic, a record breaking 12 million copies of the upcoming novel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
will be shipped to stores for it's release on July 21.
Previous Harry Potter books have sold over 325 million copies and have been translated into 64 languages. The series has spawned four feature films and a fifth film based on the fifth installment, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
, will reach theaters a week ahead of the new book's arrival.
The previous record for a first printing was 10.8 million, a mark set by the previous Harry Potter book which ended up selling almost 7 million copies in the first 24 hours.
KJ's Take: Man is this series huge or what? And it's ending! What, oh what will Rowling's next series be?! $10 says that it is based in the same world as Harry Potter.
