Hathaway for Robopocalypse

Spielberg wants Catwoman!

By Robert T. Trate     September 26, 2012
Source: Deadline

Steven Spielberg is on the hunt for Catwoman, Anne Hathaway, to co-star in his next film Robopocalypse. If Hathaway signs on for the project she’ll star next to, none other than, Thor himself Chris Hemsworth.

Here is an excerpt from Dreamworks press release about Robopocalypse:

“...Steven Spielberg is set to also produce and direct the DreamWorks and Twentieth Century Fox co-production.

The film will begin principal photography in early 2013 and will be released on April 25, 2014 day and date worldwide. The Walt Disney Studio’s Touchstone Pictures will distribute the film domestically via its Touchstone Pictures with Twentieth Century Fox handling international distribution.

Exploring the fate of the human race following a robot uprising, “Robopocalypse” has been adapted for the screen by Drew Goddard, based on the novel of the same name by Daniel H. Wilson. DreamWorks acquired the rights to Wilson’s unpublished manuscript in November 2009. Published by Doubleday on June 8, 2011, the book soon appeared on the New York Times Best Sellers list”.

Thanks to Chopsaki for the submission.

Goddard wrote the script?  That's definitely a plus.  I'd be afraid if Steven ol' pal George had written the script.

I don't like the title.  Unless it's going be like a comedy or something.  Otherwise, it's ok for a book a title, but as a movie title it just sounds kinda cheesy if they're really trying to make a serious post-apocolyptic movie.

I'm with ya, VT...title sucks...reminds me somehow of the title "Robot Jox"...anybody remember THAT gem?  I would love to trust Speilberg, but I've found his more recent directorial endeavors to be somewhat lacking.  Ah well, I'll hate the name and hope for the best.

I love Robot Jox!  I even rented it from Netflix once a while back.

Hasn't this already been done many times? Terminator, Matrix, I-Robot, what other movies am I missing?

I know it will be a new spin and I'm sure it'll be entertaining, but the same premises start to get old after a while.

Speaking of Robot-Jox, it's my hope that someday, soon, we can get a MechWarrior / BattleTech movie!

I got say too that the title just doesn't click for me either. It's a couple letters away from being called Homopocalypse, Bozopocalypse, or Hohopocalypse.

Same here, the title just screams SyFy Originals.  But Spielberg and Hathaway?  That sounds like something I'd like to see.

At least SS is directing this SyFy Channel Original titled flick rather than Michael Bay.  Hopefully the beard has his groove back on and puts out a gem.  It could be worse; it could be Vampirepocalypse, Michael Bay Transformerpocalypse, or JohnCarterFromMarspocalypse.

Spielberg, Lucas, Burton, Raimi, they all have the same problem, they got old, rich, lazy, and full of their own press. Thank god Scorsese never had a box office.
