Just ten days after Warner Bros. Pictures unleashed the new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, co-star Anne Hathaway has expanded on at least one of those scenes we glimpsed in the preview. In a piece for the Los Angeles Times, the actress described her Catwoman character possibly saving Batman for the main villain as well as a brief description of her outfit.

Gotham City is a war zone. A ruthless madman named Bane has ripped away any sense of security and the citizens, haggard and clutching suitcases with refugee anxiety, sit behind barbed wire waiting to see what will blow up next. A hooded prisoner is dragged in – it's Bruce Wayne, one of Gotham's most famous faces – but the eyes of the crowd go instead to the woman in black standing at the top of the staircase.

"Sorry to spoil things, boys, but Bane needs these guys himself," says sultry Selina Kyle, played here by actress Anne Hathaway, navigating the steps with stiletto heels that, on closer inspection, turn out to have serrated edges capable of leaving nasty claw marks in a fight. She also wears high-tech goggles that, when not in use, flip up and resemble feline ears.

“I love the costume,” Hathaway said last summer on the set of “The Dark Knight Rises,” after shooting that scene for the film. “I love the costume because everything has a purpose, nothing is in place for fantasy’s sake, and that’s the case with everything in Christopher Nolan’s Gotham City.”

“Gotham City is full of grace,” Hathaway said. “You look at Heath’s performance as the Joker, there was a lot of madness there but there was also a grace and he had a code there. There’s a lot of belief and codes of behavior in Gotham and my character has one, too. A lot of the way she moves and interacts with people is informed by her worldview. Chris has given us all such complex, defined, sophisticated worldviews that it’s just a matter of doing your homework and getting underneath the character’s skin.”

The Dark Knight Rises into theaters July 20, 2012.

When something about TDKR appears all I hear are farting and shitting sounds like in that South Park episode.

Yet here we go again for the third time in 3 tries someone is trying to bring down Gotham, boriiinnnng. Hopefully the next incarnation will show more creativity.

To be honest there aren't many actresses you CAN'T say that about, to wit... I still would have prefered someone like Morena Baccarin in the role, specially with the short black hair she sports in V...

It would be cool if they can somehow mention the Joker was let loose or funded to wreck havoc on Gotham by say the League. As much as I like TDK, one of the things that bothers me is how the Joker had soo much control over Gotham. It's crazy. He had control on Gotham Police, Gotham Media, Gotham public (convincing them to shoot Mr. Reese), Gotham Transport (the boats), Gotham mob bosses, Harvey Dent, and Batman himself at one point. How?

Sounds good to me, hopefully they release some official Catwoman photos soon.

I thought that picture upstairs was an official Catwoman picture?

JarrodSarafin 12/30/2011 6:27:10 PM

It was official...but at the time of the official reveal, Mike...All Warner Bros. Pictures was comfortable with was "Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle in The Dark Knight Rises" as far as description. There's been some set photos of the Catwoman costume in shooting action but no official screenshots from WB of the Catwoman costume. Pretty sure it will be an EW cover shoot reveal closer to the July release...

Wise, your hatred for this movie just makes me sad.

She said..".everything has a purpose, nothing is in place for fantasy’s sake"  Which to me means,  We crapped on the comic suit and made Catwoman just a regular outfit without it coming remotely close to resemblong a cat.
