Great. I liked it.

Just a few days after premiering the first episode for "Game of Thrones", HBO has confirmed they have renewed the adaptation of the George R.R. Martin series for a second season. Check out the press statement down below.
Following strong critical and viewer response to the series' April 17 debut, HBO has renewed GAME OF THRONES for a second season, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming.
"We are delighted by the way David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have brought George R.R. Martin's amazing book series to the screen, and thrilled by the support of the media and our viewers," said Lombardo. "This is the continuation of an exciting creative partnership."
Based on the bestselling fantasy book series "A Song of Ice and Fire," by George R.R. Martin, GAME OF THRONES follows kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars and noblemen as they vie for power in a land where summers span decades and winters can last a lifetime.
Among the early critical raves, TV Guide has called the show "a crowning triumph" and "brilliant," while the Los Angeles Times termed GAME OF THRONES "a great and thundering series," as well as "wild and bewitching." The Hollywood Reporter praised the "excellent storytelling, superb acting and stunning visual effects," and the New York Post observed that the "art directing, acting and incredible sets are as breathtaking as the massive scope of the series."
The gross audience for the premiere night of GAME OF THRONES on the main HBO channel was 4.2 million viewers.
The season one cast includes (in alphabetical order): Mark Addy, Alfie Allen, Sean Bean, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Fairley, Aidan Gillen, Jack Gleeson, Iain Glen, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Harry Lloyd, Richard Madden, Rory McCann, Jason Momoa, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams.
Season one credits: GAME OF THRONES is executive produced by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss; co-executive producers, Carolyn Strauss, Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis, Ralph Vicinanza and George R.R. Martin; producers, Mark Huffam and Frank Doelger; directors of photography, Marco Pontecorvo, Alik Sakharov and Matt Jensen; production designer, Gemma Jackson; costume designer, Michele Clapton.
I'll take a look once it hits DVD. If it makes it through episode 3 without HBO deciding to 'fix' the story line. To bad HBO doesn't have a way to allow you to see specific shows. I'd love to see this one, but I can't see paying a ton $$$ for one show.
there are 4 pretty large books in the series to the game of thrones so I guess I'll have to read them to see if I will like it. I have heard nothing but good things about it.
Soon to be 5 books and eventually 7 ... whenever Martin eventually finishes the series. I highly recommend reading them. I'm not surprised about the renewal but it's good to hear that it will definitely happen. Especially after only one episode aired.
Just a heads up on reading the books. So much is going on long breaks between books really kills the momentum of the story. There are just so many characters and plots moving around.
But I must say the first episode while not exactly how I saw some stuff in my mind is amazing. Peter Dinklage while not the image I have in my mind, seemed spot on for character interpertation.
Dinklage and Bean were exactly who the producers wanted when they first read the books. I'm sure glad they got them. They were both great. Bean is great as honor-bound Eddard. And Dinklage seems perfect at playing the morally gray character of Tyrion. The look on his face when he was getting his "pole waxed" was hilarious. And I loved the scene between he and Jon.
I can't wait to see more of Arya though. She is my favorite character.
I agree with decepticons about the long breaks between books. Then again, they are long enough that I don't mind re-reading the entire series (which I will start doing soon) in anticipation of the next book.
Gonna watch it tonight. Looking forward to seeing what all the praise is about! :)
Wow all the accolades are well deserved. The show was amazing. I said it before but there is a certain air and weight of authenticity to this show that is lacking in other similar series like Camelot. Kudos to HBO for doing it yet again, looking forward to seeing this series grow.
