What They Say
Just like the anime, the "Heat Guy J" Original Soundtrack makes a memorable impression. This CD's 20 tracks of instrumental and vocals is an eclectic mix of cool jazz, rave and other alternative music genres!

Available for the first time as a domestic anime CD release, the CD release will be cross promoted with the release of the DVD in national print and online advertisements. The booklet to the 58 minute CD also includes an English translated interview with the "Tryforce" band members!

The Review!
4 out of 5
Music found in the series Heat Guy J.

This CD comes with a six-page insert. The pages all contain small pictures of the characters within the show. The first page of the insert is a large and very aggressive cover page. The next page is the song title list. After this comes a page with the English and Japanese lyrics to the song Face, as well as a small paragraph by Kenichi Sudoh of TRYFORCE about his part in the group. The next page has a paragraph by both Yohgo Kohno and Yoshichika Kuriyama about their positions in TRYFORCE. The next page is a small paragraph by Hironobu Kageyama of TRYFORCE, and the English and Japanese lyrics to the song Hikari. Finally the last page has credits for the CD as well as the series.

The CD is a TRYFORCE masterpiece. Tryforce is a Japanese band created specifically for this project. Each member of Tryforce came to the project from a different area of the musical world. This compilation of talent has resulted in a very rock type of music with a distinct Asian flair. The rocking tunes that filter through the speakers at the onset of the first track are just a tribute to the ability of Tryforce to capture the futuristic feel of the Heat Guy J world. The music itself though instrumental in nature (Except tracks #2 and 20) still has the definite feel of rock to them. They do have the ability to get down to the soul of the listener and dredge up the need to move the body along with the harsher more base beats. Some of the songs are very heavy on the percussion, and bring out a slightly harder sound, but it seems to flow with the entire feel of the series and enhances every scene that they are in. As a stand-alone CD, the harsher music keeps you moving, and invokes in the listener, the need to stay active. Almost as if the song is pushing you along to your goal. The sounds are very pleasing to the ear, and keep the body moving, so to have this on in the background while working gets a lot of things done for you. Tryforce has made a great splash into the listening community with this one. In fact, my only complaint is that, some of the songs, though I know are different, I swear they sound alike. For instance there are moments in track 5, that seem to have jumped right out of track 3.

The only exception to the Tryforce music is track #20 Hikari, which is performed by Saeko Chiba. The song itself though not done by Tryforce does fit into that same world that the rest of the music on the CD has created. It is slower, and less percussion based, but still a beautiful display of musical talent.

I’d have to say a great listen all around, rock has never been this interesting.

Fangboy says…Hmmmm…good beat, and I can really feel the music, liking it a lot!
