For years, director Zack Snyder has expressed a desire to return to the Zombie genre (after remaking Dawn of the Dead) but he wanted a full powered Military gung-ho action take of a zombie infested world set in Vegas. The only problem with getting it off the ground was time and other projects so he wanted to find a director to lead it, something which has finally happened for Snyder, reports Variety. WB has grabbed commercial and visual artist Matthijs van Heijningen to make his feature directing debut on Army of the Dead, an action thriller that takes place in zombie-infested Las Vegas.

WB studio will co-finance the film with Village Roadshow Pictures. Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder produce under their WB-based Cruel & Unusual Films. Joby Harold (Awake) penned the screenplay.

Plot Concept: As said above, this will be more of an action-thriller set in the zombie genre but the sub plot will center on a father who tries to save his daughter from certain death in a zombie-ridden Sin City.

I thought he was going to do a sequel on Dawn of the Dead. I have to say I really liked that movie alot and want to see what happens to the reminder survivors who are not yet safe. But he did such a good job on Dawn of the dead I will be on line at the theaters for this Army of the Dead.

What? STILL no word on "C.S.R.s of the Dead" (the zombie infestation of a call center)?

That is actually suppose to be a sequel to intern of the dead (the promotion). But they decided to change the title and make it a seperate movie. But at least we will have movies to watch until the most waited for zombie movie. Babies of the dead (No More Baby Food).

if they are going to do a real apocalyptic zombie movie, why center it in Las Vegas? I mean thats cool but lets see the bigger picture, have a global (or at the very least United states) movie that shows various zombie tales of survival in some Major cities: LA and DALLAS and NEW YORK... show me whats happening across the United States with different groups of people all trying to survive.

why confine the zombie outbreak to one city? We've seen it before... show the bigger picture.

Zombies are the worst.

The worst what, you ask?

The worst. Of everything. Period. I can't even watch a zombie movie without feeling like a scared little kid. And they aren't even real.

The point is, it doesn't matter where the military starts. Las Vegas, New York, Dallas, LA... You gotta start blastin em somewhere.

Goddamned zombies.

Wasn't there talk about turning author Max Brooks' novel 'World War Z' into a movie?

Mckracken...If you haven't heard of it, its a fiction/written documentary in which the author Max Brooks travels around the country and the world, interviewing human survivors of a global Human-Zombie War.
