While what actress Helena Bonham Carter reveals about role in the upcoming Terminator Salvation film is exceedingly vague, it could also be decided as somewhat revealing in where her loyalties lie in the fight for the future. If you don't want to know anything about the characters, exit the article now.
If you do, the actress has talked to Sci-Fi Wire on which side her character's loyalies are focused. It seems, judging by what she is saying, that she is covering the same ground that she is also covering in the Harry Potter franchise.
The dark side.
Here's what she had to say on it to the website.
"I kind of play a baddie, definitely a baddie," Bonham Carter said in an interview while promoting her new film, the comedy-drama Sixty Six. "I don't know how much I'm allowed to say, but I'm a very bad person."
Helena will be co-starring alongside Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin, Bryce Dallas Howard, Moon Bloodgood, Common and Jadagrace. McG is directing, based on a screenplay by John Brancato and Michael Ferris.
Plot Summary: In the highly anticipated new installment of "The Terminator" film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.
Terminator Salvation will hit theaters May 22, 2009.
Figure the robots would want some turncoats on their side. This keeps reminding me of The Matrix. I'm sure she has been promised her own rusted kingdome for help in eliminating "the one" John Connor.
I'm really looking forward to this.
Wise...Your probably on to something there...She gets caught and gives up all kinds of info on the resistance in order to save her hide or achieve that rusty kingdom you were talking about, what a bitch! I like her character already...
Of course, baddie doesn't really mean anything. She could easily be a Terminator, or a resistance fighter driven psycho by the situation. Who knows? All I can say is that if she's playing the character, it probably won't be boring.
