By: Patrick SauriolDate: Saturday, April 03, 2004
The early figures are in from last night's box office and it appears that HELLBOY led the competition. According to preliminary results the comic book adaptation netted approximately $8,967,500 from its Friday showings (including any midnight screenings from Thursday.) That would put the red-skinned monster hunter on track for a $25-30 million dollar opening weekend.
Second place went to The Rock's new action flick WALKING TALL which earned about $5.2 M. Disney's new animated film HOME ON THE RANGE was in third with $4.0 M and last week's champ, SCOOBY-DOO 2, grossed $3.7 M. Meanwhile, Paramount's new teen romance THE PRINCE AND ME scored an OK $3.4 M.
We'll have the preliminary weekend results when they're issued tomorrow.
