A new photo of Hellboy holding his new gun, dubbed "big baby" at the official website, has appeared online for HELLBOY II:THE GOLDEN ARMY. Ryan Rotten provided us all with the first look of this gun set to premiere in the sequel next summer from director Guillermo del Toro. The sequel stars Perlman, Selma Blair, Luke Goss, Thomas Kretschmann, Doug Jones, Anna Walton, Brian Steele, Roy Dotrice and John Hurt.

Plot Summary: With a signature blend of action, humor and character-based spectacle, the saga of the world's toughest, kitten-loving hero from Hell continues to unfold in "Hellboy 2." Bigger muscle, badder weapons and more ungodly villains arrive in an epic vision of imagination from Oscar®-nominated director Guillermo del Toro ("Pan's Labyrinth," "Hellboy").

After an ancient truce existing between humankind and the invisible realm of the fantastic is broken, hell on Earth is ready to erupt. A ruthless leader who treads the world above and the one below defies his bloodline and awakens an unstoppable army of creatures. Now, it's up to the planet's toughest, roughest superhero to battle the merciless dictator and his marauders. He may be red. He may be horned. He may be misunderstood. But when you need the job done right, it's time to call in Hellboy (Ron Perlman).

Along with his expanding team in the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Development--pyrokinetic girlfriend Liz (Selma Blair), aquatic empath Abe (Doug Jones) and protoplasmic mystic Johann--the BPRD will travel between the surface strata and the unseen magical one, where creatures of fantasy become corporeal. And Hellboy, a creature of two worlds who's accepted by neither, must choose between the life he knows and an unknown destiny that beckons him.

HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY will hit theaters July 11, 2008.

Is Perlman officially a senior citizen yet? Because we need more senior citizen action heroes. Cause it would be funny if both Perlman AND Hellboy both qualify for the AARP discount at the pancake buffet...

Also we don't have nearly enough Selma Blair movies.

And I hope all the demons and stuff piss off the amusing religious nuts.

sounds great. but i must disagree with elvis.. i think we HAVE seen enough of selma blair. but again i agree, hears to hoping that the idiot religos lose it again! haha

Toon movies have been pretty decent, I hope they make more.

I agree ElvisGump (about the demons & stuff). Though, oddly, I don't remember them making a stink about the first HB movie...

Perlman is 57. Young by today's standard(Ford and Stallone). I'm really hoping this movie fares better than the first, which didn't even make 100 mil. worldwide, which is why I was surprised they went ahead with the sequel.. I like Perlman and the way he pulls off HB, I would like to see more of it.
Now we're complaining about religious people not complaining? Didn't we just go through this. So, if the movie bombs(which is possible considering the first one's performance and the fact that HB is not a household name) you can blame someone the same way they're getting the blame for GC.

Wiseguy, what do you mean religious people are "getting the blame for Golden Compass?" Who knows for sure if the religious right really had any influence on the movies box office numbers, but they were sure trying hard enough! You're telling us you didn't see the articles in the papers, or got any of the lame chain emails being sent out about boycotting the film, and why? I've seen more of a stink over GC than back with the D. Code! You're giving the impression you're unaware of all this. I'm sure the people behind the boycotts and chain mails are taking full responsibility for the lackluster ticket sales, and boasting about it. But again, who knows really how much effect they had.

As for Hellboy, I don't even remember anyone saying much about it. But then, the movie is pure fantasy/sci-fi...there are no hidden messages or supposed agendas behind the source materials that some believe are with GC.

This looks sweet, I can’t wait for this film.I’m actually happier about this film than TDK. Hellboy is a superior comic IMHO, and I’m glad we get another installent even though the first one didn’t make tons of cash. In fact I think that will bode well for the creators to have more control of this sequel than the Studio (with their focus groups).
Bring on the PAMCAKES!

I'm for more Hellboy. Animated or live-action.

And definitely for more Selma Blair. :)

More religious protests? Not so much. Amongst themselves and their congregations they can talk of boycotts and encourage each other not to see things all they want - I want them to keep the protests out of the media and away from the movie theaters.
Sure, they have the right to do it - I don't think such things should be illegal - but I would hope they could keep their religious views to themselves and their fellow believers.

Oh wow, i thought i was the only one that missed terence hill and bud spencer... Anyways, i digged the first hellboy movie and hope this one is a lot of fun too. And that was a cute joke saying that hellboy is a far more superior comic then batman... Speaking of which.... Holy jesus kenobi! I just finished watching both the imax presentation of the first seven minutes of the dark knight AND the regular trailer.. Movie looks amazing, holy crap, heath ledger nails the part of the joker in my opinion and both batman and joker have some kick ass battle sequences.. I trully can't wait for this movie. And fuck the naysayers.. Dark knight will own your asses next summer.
