We are gearing up for “May the Fourth” over here at Mania. In preparation for said event, Star Wars and Lucasfilm have sent us a viral video to get us all in the mood. May the Fourth is the official/ unofficial day of Star Wars. This year, and for many more to come, we have a lot to celebrate. How will you celebrate?

Twitter your plans with #MayThe4thBeWithYou

May the Force be with you, always!

Official Press Release: Since the very first Star Wars movie came out in 1977, fans everywhere have made the galactic saga their own and found creative ways to celebrate their love of the Force. One of the most visible ways is annually transforming the date of May 4th into “May the Fourth,” the day that Star Wars fandom has created to share their passion around the world. Fans of all ages wear their favorite Star Wars items, partake in parties and screenings, and pass on messages of “May the Force be with you” in person and online.

I'll never understand why these movies (let alone any popular series in movies, TV, books, etc) warrants a so called holiday for celebration.

What's next, tax exempt status so it can be a religion?

 Bonnie Burton is silly sometimes.

Al, it is recognized religion in England. Check out the story on it. A great read

StarlightGuard 4/20/2013 10:52:24 AM

Please be kidding Bob. Please, oh please be kidding about that.

He is not...there was a survey too about religions a few years ago in England an something like 15% of people said their religion was Jedi...the force is strong with us all.

RobertTrate 4/20/2013 12:02:55 PM

It had soemthing to do with their rights and leaving a blank spot on the form. To screw the cenus a majority of the people put in the word Jedi.

Actually be hoping to attend when I come to visit Englad this summer

Well no... it was done by a small group less then one percent in 2001 and less then half that in 2011 and it was more a joke by Star Wars Hipsters under the mistaken idea that it would be recognize by the Gov't of the UK if enough people put in on the census.

So no It's not recognized in England, a few basement dwellers didn't get enough cake from their mums is all. ;)

This stupidity actually helped the Conservative Gov't in Canada to get rid of a proper census citing people answering untruthfully and thus skewing results. (rather then prosecuting like they should have)

People also mark FSM and Heavy Metal.

People who falsify a census in most countries have commited a crime and can be charged and really need to start being to help curb this stuff.

I don't celebrate the 4th, except as a joke between my friends. However, I am hoping they release some major spoilers for the upcoming movie on that day!
