HIGHLANDER: THE SOURCE Prepares to Film

By: News Editor
Date: Thursday, August 04, 2005
Source: Davis-Panzer Productions

Davis-Panzer Productions, Sequence Films and Grosvenor Park have announce that HIGHLANDER: The Source will start shooting in Lithuania this October. Brett Leonard is set to direct with Adrian Paul playing the immortal Scottish swordsman, Duncan MacLeod.

This new adventure is the first feature in the Trilogy. The Source will tell the story of Immortals as they quest to locate the Holy Grail of their world. The entire series of films will chronicle the origins of the Immortals.

Director Brett Leonard (LAWNMOWER MAN) commented "This is a tremendous opportunity for a storyteller of this genre to take part in the mythology of 20 years." He continues that "HIGHLANDER is an amazing ongoing story that I can bring my visual style to... Everything I have done has led me to this kind of mythical fantasy."

Peter Davis of Davis-Panzer Productions noted, "We are truly celebrating this milestone in HIGHLANDER history by pairing Brett and Adrian in our newest Trilogy. We anticipate that this combination will recapture the filming glory of the original HIGHLANDER."

Davis-Panzer Productions is also busy further immortalizing the Clan MacLeod during the series' twentieth year with an anime feature film in partnership with Imagi and Madhouse of Japan and a video game with SCI Games Ltd. of London.

HIGHLANDER: The Source will be distributed in North America through Lions Gate Films and in 40 foreign territories through the top independent distributors.

So what, no Adrian Paul or Lambert? That's too bad.

Oooh, a Highlander anime? I can just imagine the amount of blood splatter in that series.

Flashbacks to Highlander 2...
ICK!

I hope by their world, they mean how the Immortals sort of live in a separate world from us, but aren't aliens. You know a metaphorical world. As I understand it, Panzer and Davis never intended all that alien crap from 2, but had control taken away from them. I haven't watched the Renegade version of 2 though, so I'm not sure how they resolved that whole crapfest that was the Quickening.

So this is a trilogy of live action movies? Or is the anime part of the trilogy? I also remember reading awhile back that Lambert was going to be in this one too, I mean there's always flashbacks. And just think, if this is about the history of immortals, we should get to see so much Methos. I will keep my fingers crossed...End Game gave me some hope.

If we cut off the head of the Highlander franchise, will it finally die?

So, will Highlander: The Source be set on Planet Zeist? Is Michael "General Katana" Ironside under contract for the trilogy?

In the directors cut they changed them from being aliens to being an advanced civilation on earth in the past that sent thier prisioners to the future to fight each other basicly.

Highlander 2 was shite, no matter how you re-edit it.

The first Highlander was a wonderful, intelligent, exciting and original movie. Never watched the series, but I did see all of the sequel movies. One of the great aspects of the first was the finality to it...everyone he loved died; "There can be only one!" There should never have been any of the B-movie sequels or a series (with all due respect to Mr. Paul who I'm sure did a fine job). All of the sequels and the series have been an injustice to what should have been a stand-alone sci-fi/fantasy classic.

Let Highlander Die...the studios killed it with the first sequel...stop trying to bring it back to life. There should be only one!
