HIGHLANDER WORLDWIDE WORKSHOP: JAMES HORAN
By: Abbie BernsteinDate: Tuesday, March 01, 2005
James Horan only appeared in one episode of HIGHLANDER, but his portrayal of pre-Roman warrior Grayson in "Band of Brothers," and his ferocious swordfight with Adrian Paul's MacLeod, made an indelible impression on many fans. Horan talks about Grayson's temperament, which runs from "calm to savage." When he confronts MacLeod in the present, "He's back in his element of being a warrior again, facing Duncan, and there's that glee in him ... It was very Shakespearean 'Have you done anything to change the world? Now you never will.' "
The fight at the sulfur pit took 12 hours to film. It was raining during the fight: "I'm grateful for the rain, because otherwise, we would have been breathing that stuff. As it was, it just caked to us. It looked really cool."
When Grayson dies, "There's a little smile. I talked to the director about that, because [after thousands of years of existence] it was almost a relief."
