What They Say
The further embroiled in the investigation he becomes, the more Keiichi's suspicions about his new friends grow. Their strange behavior only gives rise to more questions. Keiichi's paranoia reaches a fever pitch... with good reason. Assaulted by one terror after another, he nears the inevitable, bloody solution to the series of mysterious deaths caused by "Oyashiro-sama's Curse"!

The Review!
Detective Ooishi drags Keiichi deeper into the mysterious web of murder and disappearing villagers surrounding the citizens of Hinamizawa.  Keiichi can no longer deny how batshit crazy Rena and Mion are acting, but Ooishi denies the chance that Oyashiro’s curse is real.  He believes everything happening in Hinamizawa is simply natural crimes committed by humans.  Ooishi explains how some of those killed had argued with Mion before their death, and Rena went crazy and beat up a bunch of guys at her old school.

Keiichi returns home more upset than he ever was, especially after Ooishi tells him he might be the next to die or disappear.  Then Mion and Rena knock on his door and deliver some get-well food, since Keiichi had been playing sick to avoid school.  They are both acting weird and even ask him where he was for lunch and who he ate with.  However, they were at school, how could they possibly know what Keiichi was doing?  To make matters worse, the first thing he eats has a needle in it!

The suspense built by Rena and Mion seeming to know everything Keiichi does left me squirming in my chair.  Things get more heated when Keiichi begins keeping notes about what is happening around him, and he begins carrying around a baseball bat for protection.  Seems like a sensible thing, until he learns the boy that disappeared before he arrived in Hinamizawa began doing the exact same thing!  Can Keiichi follow the same path as the other boy and expect to survive?

Things get worse as Keiichi’s interactions with Rena escalate.  She keeps coming to his house with the excuse of being nice, but then freaks him out by asking him why he is doing things no one else could possibly know.  Can Rena turn invisible or maybe read Keiichi’s mind?  I can’t say much more about this without giving things away, however, I highly recommend this series.
