What They Say
Shinichi and Megumi aren't exactly blood relatives. When their parents decide to marry, they find themselves pushed together and having to work the oddities out of the situation. Fortunately, they eventually learn to love and respect each other. However, their idyllic life will soon turn into a nightmare of lust and debauchery!

Two thugs at school take a liking to tormenting Shinichi. As things start to get out of hand, their attention is turned to his innocent and defenseless stepsister... and the nightmare of lust and depravity starts to unfold...

Will Shinichi be able to keep them away from her, or is that asking too much?

The Review!
A one-off show, “Lust of Shame” brings brother and sister ever closer together.

For our primary viewing session, we listened to this disc in its original language of Japanese. Though this is a fairly recent release, the show is a pretty basic stereo mix with most everything being center channel dominated. The only real exception is the music, but even that is pretty much just filling up the entire forward soundstage with no real directionality. But in the end, it's a decent sounding track with no dropouts or distortions.

Originally released in 2002, Hika Ryoujoku has a rather good-looking transfer that’s avoided some problems on other recent NuTech releases. The colors are solid and free of color banding issues, aliasing is very minimal throughout and even the edge cross coloration we’ve seen a lot of lately is non-existent here. While the colors aren’t as vibrant as other shows, they look good here with solid backgrounds and smooth foreground animation.

The front cover goes for the classic image of the partially undressed schoolgirl with the setting of her being underneath a chalkboard, eyes downcast. The artwork is rather nice here with some really good flesh colors used. The back cover gives a full summary of what’s in the story and setting as well as a few animation shots. Some production information and the discs features are also listed here. As with all NuTech releases to date, there’s no insert in this release.

There’s a fair amount of load to the main menu as it uses a series of sequences from the show before it settles on the partial image of the front cover, which becomes a static piece that the selections are laid over while animation plays next to it. Menus are quick to load afterwards and moving around is quick and easy. The layout is the same as other NuTech discs, so you know what to expect if you’ve seen their releases before.

The only extra included here is a video gallery that shows various stills from the episodes to music.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Hika Ryoujoku looks to be a standalone OVA release, though it has the obligatory “End…?” at the very end of the show in case it proves popular, but it manages a decent self-contained story for the time it’s allotted.

We’re introduced to young Megumi and Shinichi, two kids who are now brother and sister after their parents get married. Over the course of three years, the two eventually get closer and closer together and they really start to think of themselves as a family. But for Shinichi, things aren’t going quite so well in his life as a couple of classmates of his are bullying him lately. They’ve started to up the ante as well, first by demanding a pair of his sisters’ panties, which he proceeds to steal and then they sell for a tidy sum, to moving up to used panties, naked pictures and more.

At each stage, Shinichi feels worse and worse about what he’s doing to the oblivious Megumi. But when they get to the picture taking stage, it gets worse. He ends up drugging her so she’ll stay asleep while he takes the pictures. But as soon as he gets her undressed, his own hormones kick in and he can’t help himself – but he proves he’s definitely a virgin with how he handles his first time. But in the end, he refuses to take the pictures and tries to stand up to the bullies.

This only gets him humiliated with a number of toys from the boys and they use him to draw Megumi to them, where the real “fun” begins as they take advantage of her while her brother watches.

Hika Ryoujoku is actually pretty decent for the most part with only one or two “urg” kind of scenes that make you cringe and wish they did something else. The character designs are pretty decent for the two leads, with Megumi making out the best of course, but Shinichi isn’t bad either. The bullies of course aren’t designed to be attractive, so it’s easy to ignore them. With such a small cast and a focused storyline, this all wraps up pretty decently in the end with a weird twist on family values.

In Summary:
While not the best hentai ever, Hika Ryoujoku is a decent little voyeuristic title that then succumbs to other needs, all while playing up the fake brother/sister relationship. There’s a decent variety of the kind of scenes you get since it starts off as a voyeur type show, which is a good plus since that means the disc isn’t one entire long sequence in itself.
