Hilary Swank is the latest addition to the cast of THE BLACK DAHLIA, based on James Ellroy's novel of the same name. Brian De Palma (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, FEMME FATALE) will direct the project that also stars Josh Hartnett and Scarlett Johansson.
Based on the infamous 1940s Los Angeles murder, the story follows a pair of cops as they investigate the murder of a young woman named Elizabeth Short who the press dubbed the "Black Dahlia". Swank will play a character that bears an uncanny resemblence to the murdered woman and who may bring about the downfall of the two cops.
Variety reports that filming on the $30 million dollar production kicks off on April 4 in Bulgaria.
