Columbia Pictures is in talks with actor Jonah Hill to star in the big screen adaptation of the TV series 21 JUMP STREET.
The original series, created by Stephen J. Cannell, ran on the Fox network from 1987 to 1991 and starred Johnny Depp. It centered on a group of young cops who worked undercover in high schools and colleges to catch troubled youth. STREET dealt with various issues of the time including alcoholism, hate crimes, drug abuse, racism, homophobia, AIDS, drinking, child abuse, and sexual promiscuity.
Stephen J. Cannell and Neal Moritz will produce. If Hill officially signs on he'd help develop the script and executive produce.
Hill will lend his voice to DreamWork's animated film HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON and he has signed on to star in GET HIM TO THE GREEK.
