Columbia Pictures is in talks with actor Jonah Hill to star in the big screen adaptation of the TV series 21 JUMP STREET.

The original series, created by Stephen J. Cannell, ran on the Fox network from 1987 to 1991 and starred Johnny Depp. It centered on a group of young cops who worked undercover in high schools and colleges to catch troubled youth.  STREET dealt with various issues of the time including alcoholism, hate crimes, drug abuse, racism, homophobia, AIDS, drinking, child abuse, and sexual promiscuity.

Stephen J. Cannell and Neal Moritz will produce.  If Hill officially signs on he'd help develop the script and executive produce.

Hill will lend his voice to DreamWork's animated film HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON and he has signed on to star in GET HIM TO THE GREEK.

I'm with it as long as he's not the main guy. How old is Hill now anyways, I think he's getting old to be playing a high school kid. Can't they move the series up to college or something if they are going to use him?

If Hill is playing one of the undercover cops it has to be a comedy and I think that may be the best way to go. Never watched this show so I'm not expecting much here.

Hopefully, he's playing the second banana comic relief to some other actors if they plan on doing this seriously.
Stephen J. Cannell seems to be bringing alot of his old shows to the big screen. We've got the A-Team coming up and I think he's also working on Greatest American Hero. Now we just have to wait on Rockford Files, Hardcastle & McCormick , Riptide, Hunter, and Tenspeed & Brownshoe.

Can't wait until they remake "Booker"!

Richard Grieco cameo anyone?

I can see him as the Peter Deluise character.

Are they really working on a Greatest American Hero movie? That would actually be cool, if done right.

bjjdenver, I can't believe someone other than me remembers Booker!

Don't see Hill in Jump Street as a cop. Although hanso has a good point. They could move it to college and be much more believable. Especially with the recent news about the cops busting a bunch of drug dealers at San Diego State. Don't know. That would kind of get away from the point of the series.

This was a really shitty TV show and now they want to make it into a movie? The only thing that kept the show on the air was the stars popularity with teens and young adults. It was a cultural phenom for all of what, 15 minutes? Without those stars this movie will bomb big time.
