It had to be expected, right? In preparation of the December 14th release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Select theaters will be screening the original Lord of the Rings trilogy. Which many of us we’re planning to do individually anyway. The reason to attend is that all three original films will be shown in their extended cuts. The Lord of the Rings marathons will take place on Saturday, December 8th and Sunday, December 9th, preceding the release of An Unexpected Journey in 3D on December 14th.  Tickets for the marathon and An Unexpected Journey go on sale this Wednesday at noon ET.  

 
Imagine July 17th 2014, when we will be able to sit through all six films in a row. Obviously, there will be a midnight screening of The Hobbit: There and Back Again at midnight. When it is over we’ll be able to watch the complete Lord of the Rings Saga.

 Well the first marathon is only the 3, but in 2014... wow
