Nice behind the screens prod video, as entertaining and informative as always.

Look out for Peter's budget 3D technology in uses at 12:03.

Also looks like the barrel riding screen has the barrels open, a slight divergence from book. More exciting I guess.

Amazing...can't wait

Awesome and funny, "don't look at me directly in the eyes" from Nesbitt cracked me up

That is such a huge operation. It looks like lots of fun although I know there's pressure and it is a serious business

I can't wait to get my first glimpse but in full 3D and see how the high frame rates look on screen

And although I'm looking forward to this big time LOTR was a bigger event for me personally

Not a fan but hopefully its a good story ... is it as good as LOTR?

Looking at the video, it would be a blast working on a movie - even if its just fetching coffee.

It's nice to see a large crew like this having fun and participating in all aspects of giving stuff for the fans.

Can't wait to see this in 2D!!

vitieddie 6/6/2012 6:37:47 AM

hey were they kidding about the production being 7 years? i think one of the actors said something about "this has been our home for the past seven years"...

Wiseguy 6/6/2012 7:45:37 AM

Well folk were working on this film with GDT for a long time before they actually got production going so yeah I can see how some folk may have been down in NZ that long. Starting on pre-production  and just waiting for all the stuff with MGM to be worked out and going from GDT back to PJ, yeah a long time for some. Could be right

@viteddie - If you ever read a book in your life, pick up The Hobbit, then you'll see where Harry Potter came from, lol.

2012 is the year of the dwarf.

7 in Mirror Mirror 7 in Snow White and the Huntsmen 13 in The Hobbit  1 in Game of Thrones = 28 dwarven presences in 2012.

Extremely fun video.  Enjoyed (and completely understand) that all the hush-hush stuff was blurred out.  At 8:20 was that a giant face?  Maybe one of the trolls?  Agree with Wiseguy, very funny.
