I understand...some of us like chocolate, and some of us like vanilla. That is what freedom of choice is all about. However, sorry... to me, this movie and those like it are a celebration not of horror, but of the worst impulses in some to get off on sadism and torture. Not horror, not really, and not even gore, but sadism. Suffering. Sick power trips. That it makes a lot of money tells you nothing more than there is an audience for this kind of... stuff. There are audiences for MANY things that are hardly worthy of defense or celebration. No thanks. I'll be happy when and if the "torture porn" genre burns itself out. Shadow

I'm with shadowprime...I'm not a gore/torture hound. It is not my definitiion of "horror". The best horror, to me, is subtle and plays in the mind more than being a blood fest. The best monster movies are those that never show too much. CGI, over the top gore, etc. just take away from the imagination. They are about as effective to me as watching another car chase in a film. I'll pass on this and the future Saw sequels.

C'MON! The first movie sucked. The gore was cheesy and fake looking (except for the achilles tendon scene), the acting was horrible, and the movie was fragmented with no pace to it! A bad "b" movie at best. But money talks so we'll see hostel 3,4,and 5 probably all direct to dvd. (sigh) I hate Follwood.

I am a big horror fan, but I dislike films that seem to be all about how gross can it get and how sick can it make the audience feel. If there is a story I can follow and some redeeming characters, I really enjoy horror. Why I can like Hills Have Eyes remake and not like House of 1000 Corpses, I can like 28 Days Later but not like Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning . . . Hostel - I liked Hostel. It was a twisty story, and it never quite went where I kept expecting it to. There are levels of "revenge killing" in there that I question, morally and intellectually, and yet in the moment of the film I completely understand the motivations. I am looking forward to this, and glad to see a good review for it before I see it.

This is the 8th review i have read given Hostel a good nod. What does that tell you, that all of america likes it, no. It tells you that all most of people, are just concentrating on the gore aspect and not what the movie represents....oh well, i am going to see this tonight.

These types of crap fests are just that, crap. It reminds me of people who play with their own crap. Who plays with their own crap you might wonder? I read an article a few years ago on a flight to San Diego from Minneapolis. I t was an article in which Courtney Love was quoted as saying she played with her own crap and her nickname when she was younger was pee girl. Makes you wonder the type of "people" who goes and watches said crap. I knew there'd be reason for me having read the article about Ms Love.

I like horror movies, but I can't say that anymore because people think I like Gorish movies, which I don't. Horror movies are classics, so called horror movies of today are sick and disturbing.

well for those that care: I saw the movie and have to say they did better this time around then the first. The deaths in this movie are much more elaborate and thought out in my opinion, which really gives the movie a good twist as the story unfolds.
