There is no rest for the Wolverine, aka Hugh Jackman, as he will not journey to Neverland in Joe Wright’s upcoming PAN. Warner Brothers has issued a press release for the 2015 adaptation of the Peter Pan story.

Press Release: Principal photography will begin April 28 on Warner Bros. Pictures’ live-action Peter Pan feature from director Joe Wright (“Atonement,” “Pride & Prejudice”).

Offering a new take on the origin of the classic characters created by J.M. Barrie, the film follows the story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland.  There, he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny—to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan.

The film stars Oscar® nominee Hugh Jackman (“Les Misérables”) as Blackbeard; Garrett Hedlund (“Inside Llewyn Davis”) as Hook; Oscar® nominee Rooney Mara (“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”) as Tiger Lily; Adeel Akhtar (“The Dictator”) as Smee; and newcomer Levi Miller as Peter.

Amanda Seyfried (“Les Misérables”) rounds out the cast as Mary, alongside Jack Charles (“Mystery Road”) as The Chief/Tiger Lily’s father; Taejoo Na (“The Kick”) as Kwahu; Nonso Anozie (“Son of God,” “Atonement”) as Bishop; Kathy Burke (“Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”) as Mother Barnabas; Kurt Egyiawan (“Skyfall”) as Murray; Lewis MacDougall (UK TV’s “In the Name of the Children”) as Nibs; and newcomer Leni Zieglmeier as Wendy Darling.

Wright is directing the as-yet-untitled Peter Pan adventure from a screenplay by Jason Fuchs.  Greg Berlanti, Paul Webster and Sarah Schechter are producing, with Tim Lewis serving as executive producer.

Filming will take place at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden.  The film is set for a worldwide release on July 17, 2015.

 What, no Rufio?  ;)

For a sec there I thought Hugh was going to be Peter Pan=Epic fail.

Garrett Hedlund as Hook? odd.

I liked the Pan mini series on SyFy a few years ago with Rhys Ifans as Hook.

I agree Elbaz.  What an odd choice for Hook.  I'd almost rather have Hugh as Hook.

Other then the Disney version of Peter Pan (as well as some other movies), I don't really know much about the story which is why I ask, what does Blackbeard have to do with the Peter Pan storyline?

There's an internet meme photo that goes around with an explanation of Peter Pan that someone should commit to film:

Peter Pan is actually an angel that takes kids' spirits away when they die to their final rest. "Neverland" is where the spirits reside (heaven?), which explains why no one there ever ages.

My first thought too Baz/ Higgy. He is sooo not Hook.

He's not even a solid actor yet imo.

The whole point of Hook is that he is an "adult" vs the child-like Pan. Sure Garrett Hedlund is older than the kid playing Pan but not that old.  Hedlund is 29 years old but he looks so young, he can pass for a 20 year old.

I also thought Hugh would have been Hook.

It's funny how Blackbeard has never been part of the Pan mythos but if any of you watch Once Upon a Time, a flashback episode just a few weeks ago, Captain Hook stole the ship fand crew rom Blackbeard.

Not sure what they're going for here but since Baz brought it up, perhaps we'll be getting a Hook more in line with the one in Once Upon A Time, and in that case Hedlund does work.
