A 10th season of Smallville?  Jee-Zus, would ya just give him the cape already?

SMURFS - Actually, I have to admit that I kind of like the fact that they cast Jonathan Winters as the voice of Papa Smurf.  Good for them that they are tapping into some of the great comedy talent from the past.  But I will admit that I can also see how he can give people the heebie-jeebies... All of that said, its not like I'm actually planning on seeing this movie, Jonathan Winters or no Jonathan Winters.

DCU Announcements - About frikkin' time!  We need some of these characters on the big screen at long last.  WW, Flash, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, (non-crappy) Supergirl.  (Though I have to admit that if they announce an Aquaman movie, I fear they will try to Avatar-ize it all to hell -- may not be a bad thing if they get a good story, but I HATE rip-offs.)

THOR - Anybody know where in New Mexico they will be shooting?  Just curious, I'll be headed that way in the not too distant future.

Have none of you seen From Hell?? I love Alan Moore, he is possibly the greatest comics writer of the past twenty years, but I could hardly read through From Hell. The Hughes brothers took the slow pacing and overly moody novel and turned it into a chilling and suspenseful film. If they make the same effort to just bring the roots of the story, from the manga not the anime, without all the filler their live action Akira could be epic.

And here I thought I was the only one who didn't care for Akira.  I finally got in on Netflix and didn't see what the big deal about it was. I thought it was just plain weird.  I have no plans to see a live-action version of it, unless they really clean it up and make it coherent, in which case they'll probably lose all the core audience.

Jasinner, I saw From Hell and yes, it is an excellent movie, I own it....I'm not saying that they can't do it, I would hope that they have success....just saying.

Millean, I stand by my previous comments about Jonathan Winters. He's funny, but the idea of the Smurfs and him in blue paint is a bit disturbing to me. Poppa Smurf was a bit too happy all of the time...now he's going to be melancholy with a sharp wit.

In blue paint?  It's a CGI cartoon.

Don't get it twisted...i love the hughes bros. but I think they are the wroooong choice for Akira, hell the whole idea of an Akira movie seems nutty. It was a great exposure concept for anime back in the day, but its kinda played now..its important, but the essence of the story youve seen before time and time again.

OK, you know it's aslow newss day when the most interesting piece of news is Jonathan Winters cast as Papa Smurf...

Maybe pulling Silver off the project will finally give us a Wonder Woman movie. I really do not understand the problem. They had a fairly decent TV series in the '70's.  Maybe the problem was attaching a big name to star? Even famed artist Alex Ross thought Lynda Carter had the right look and that was her first major role...

The Flash had an even better TV series (Though didn't last even close to as long...) so... Flash isn't one of the Big Three, if you will, so the casting pressure should be even less in my mind. The big issue for them is figuring out which Flash to use and sticking with it...

Uh, Jonathan Winters is still alive.  I had no idea.  Thanks for the news update!

Giant live-action Teddy Bear? No thank you.
