Race should not be a factor anymore in thsi day and age. What studios are trying to do is show a more diverse world because GUESS WHAT????? We are a diverse society. Comics like Archie back in the day was for the Subburb family. Even the early Supergirl comics which were really bad only portrayed a Lily White World. It is not REAL PEOPLE. Let go of the hate. We are all humans. Can't we just accept this.  I grew up loving Wonder Woman, Bionic Woman, Gem, Batman, Superman, All of these WHITE hero's I am not complaining I never complained watching them on TV. So why do some folks have a problem when blacks are now being cast in these roles???? Its conditioning. Your use to your own kind and are afraid of the world finally coming together and letting go of race issues because some people will always want to be the Alfa-Dog!

STFU slayerfaith. There are plenty of African America super hero's How would you feel if they made the Falcon white? HOW WOULD YOU FEEL?????? Because I know how you would feel. Because you are a gad damned HYPOCRITE.

Dude...calm down...you're not about to march on Gotham with Dr. King.  It's not about hate or racism, it's about fans wanting as much accuracy as possible to the source material.  If this talented young man is cast, and the previews look promising, I'll go see it, but don't turn fan devotion into militant racism.

@SarcasticCaveman - It is still hypocrisy of the worst kind. It is ok if they change a white character black. Lots of people are ok with that. They think it should not be offensive to white people, which is total and absolute bullshit

Again, if they turned the Falcon or Luke Cage into white people if would be a public relations disaster. But do it the other way and it is just fine. i would just as pissed if they turned either of those characters Caucasian or even Asian or Mexican.

...And in other news, Spike Lee has been tapped to direct a remake of John Carpenter's "The Thing".

Spike Lee's "The Thang" opens next summer with Tyler Perry as R.J MacDaddy.

Unconfirmed reports have indicated that the tagline on the movie poster reads: "Man is da coolest place to chill..."

;)

If a character is a specific colour from a book how freaking bad is it to keep it the same?

Screw that crap about new society and how the world is today. The FF are white, deal with it. I'm black and I'm pissed. This is stupid, has nothing to do with racism, it has to do with keeping the character how it was intended and it goes both ways. I gave some crap when they made Fury black also but, if a character like Black Panther would be turned white, same stupidity.

Damm Fox stupid dumasses.

Axia -I agree it's hypocrisy, and there is definitely a double standard.  I was pissed as hell when they made Terry white in the "Spawn" movie...ugh, if ONLY that were the only thing wrong with that f***ing movie.  I wouldn't be pleased with this casting, but just saying that it wouldn't stop me from giving it a chance if the previews look promising.

How's this for a double standard...a few weeks ago, there was a fan made poster for a "Cage" movie starring The Rock.  He is part Samoan on his mother's side, and part black on his father's side.  You would not believe how many black people were screaming that he wasn't "black enough" to play Cage.  Must be hard being an actor of mixed heritage, especially when one half of your heritage doesn't think you're "black enough".  Oy vey.

People need to see see it this way. Instead of Halle Berry as Storm, let's have Chalize Theron. There are plenty of white people from Africa. So it should be a-ok that Storm would be white then, right? RIGHT?

hanso 5/2/2013 10:26:49 AM

He's black?  Fuck this. White power!

SarcasticCaveman 5/2/2013 10:27:43 AM

Well, that's easy, Axia...making Storm white would just be another example of White Oppression, much like those hate-mongers of yester year...you know, bastards like Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
