I AM LEGEND, the post-apocalyptic thriller which Arnold Schwarzenegger has had his eye on for years, has slipped through the action hero's fingers. However, as Will Smith and director Michael Bay (ARMAGEDDON, PEARL HARBOR) go forward at Warner Bros., Arnold will be coming onboard to produce the pic.

While Smith and Bay are still in negotiations with Schwarzenegger, they are expected by VARIETY's Michael Fleming to get a fast track from Warner Bros. to get the film going. The movie centers around the last man on Earth after a "biological war" and his struggles against mutants.
