Thank God this film is being fast-tracked!! I can't wait to finish my Thanksgiving turkey so that I can go shell out $10 on a ticket to see what will end up being one of the most intense cinematic experiences of all time. Will Smith as Neville? What a great choice!! And from the director of CONSTANTINE? Damn, this is gonna be awesome!! Yeah!!

P.S. - All of the above is bullshit. This is a film that will tank SO badly that it won't even be a footnote in film history, other than what an intense bomb it will be. This will probably end up sucking worse than THE OMEGA MAN, and that's saying something.

While the film may be crap, it will not be a footnote, nor will it bomb. This is an blockbuster film with a great release date and the most bankable star in the industry right now.

If you think this film will tank, I must question your logic. Will it suck? Quite possibly, but the two are totally different things.

Well, considering I liked Constantine and Will Smith is a good actor, I`m looking forward to this. I`ll actually wait until it comes out and I`ve seen it before I start bashing it.

I read this book a while ago... when Governor Schwarzenegger was in the running to play Neville. It'll be different now that Smith is the guy, but I can hear his witty remarks now as the vamps try to get in, so yes... it will do well at the B.O. and Lawrence will make sure it looks good. There isn't any real competition during that November 2007 release also. Six months of shooting seems kind of long though...

Sounds like a party where everyone's fighting over the last slice of pizza...

I hope that they take it seriously, it don't turn it into a typical smith vehicle.

I'm looking forward to this too, now that it's finally emerging from development hell. I read Matheson's novel years ago and the story screams to be filmed - which is probably why it's been done at least twice before, not even counting Romero's "Living Dead" movies and many others which have been inspired by Matheson's story.

If done well, it could be a great movie. But even a loose adaptation should be a fun popcorn movie. Given the talent involved, I'm leaning towards the latter.

I agree that Will Smith is a good actor and I enjoyed Constantine (although I am still twitching from the fact that it was moved from London to LA and made Keanu the lead when it should have been Jude Law or even Paul Bettany), I feel that Will may not be the right actor for the role. But stepping back, I really enjoyed his role in "I, Robot'" and he is a fine genre actor. So, I guess I pretty much am talking 'smack'. Bring it on! At least it isn't Ahnuld.

The only good acting Will Smith has ever done has been "Six Degrees of Seperation" and "Enemy of the State". I can picture a scene from "I am Legend", where the vampires are approaching him, and he says "Awww Hewwwl No"... then a vamp attacks his, and you get a trademark "Oh NO you DIDN'T"... yeah, stellar movie.
