IGN has posted the new THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE trailer online.

The movie stars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Xzibit, Amanda Peet, Billy Connolly, Callum Keith Rennie, Adam Godley.  Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz wrote the script. Carter directs.

The plot revolves around a group of women who are abducted in the wintry hills of rural Virginia. The only clues to their disappearance are the grotesque human remains that begin to turn up in snow banks along the highway. With officials desperate for any lead,  agents Fox Mulder and Dr. Dana Scully, who have no desire to revisit their dark past, are called in to help.

Click here to watch the trailer.

The film hits theaters on July 25th.

Must admit that nothing in that trailer sparks any interest in me. However, more than likely I'll end up checking it out, then again I may opt for seconds or thirds of the Dark Knight instead.

I want to know who is this Associate News Editor. Where is Jarrod?

I really like the first X-files movie and the TV show, this one I'm not sure of, but I'll still give it a shot.

Sweet, I want to be there. and will be. Big fan of the first 5 seasons of the show, and this looks quality. I for one am glad they aren't giving us anything. Don't show me the best parts in the trailer. Thats how you get me into a theater.

I liked X-zibits rap halfway through "Look Left! , Look Right !" sounds like a hit ;)

Definitely going to be there to see this. I don't think it looks like any tv-movie or typical episode. The show felt like a mini-movie every week with its production values. Now I personally would've liked a mythology-centered story, but I'm willing to bet Carter will hold that ace up his sleeve until X-Files 3. I'm still very wary of Xzibit being in this, but I'm hoping that Carter kept him in check for the movie. I hope we'll get at least one more trailer come June (probably attached to The Happening) before the movie is finally released.

I'm sorry but that trailer was crap. Just another example of something I was halfway looking forward to until I saw the trailer (another being Speed Racer). mla hit it right on the head.

Another example of why the system is fucked up and will always stay that way: You people bitch about stuff, and then turn right around and reinforce the exact things you always bitch about. How many times have I read someone grumble about how they've shown all the good scenes in the trailer? This trailer shows us absolutely nothing, and then, what's this: A chorus of fanboys line up to bitch about it. You leave negative comments, threaten to skip the film in theaters, and some idiot bean counter at the studio scans these message boards to track the movie, and reports to his/her bosses that "The X-Files" is going to bomb... And then there goes the possibility of a third movie.

I will be in attendance.

Although, I will give you this: Mulder sure looks old as shit.

I'll be one of the first in line for this movie. I loved the series and I liked what they did with the first film. Having said that, this trailer is not very exciting. The first trailer at Wondercon and then the bootleg from NYCC were both paced much better than this one. The trailer should be exciting without giving too much away. This doesn't give away much but it's also slow as hell. I don't need to see too much of the film, just a trailer that is pieced together a little better.
