Yup, Mrs. Iceknight is a huge Hemsworth fan so there will be no needing to convince her of the show as long as she is guaranteed a shot or two without his shirt on. Funny how I can't use the same logic around Jane or Black Widow. Oh well, my daughters are 9 and 7 so it appears we are all doing something right. If nothing else, they'll at least be able to hold their own on these forums in a few years. ;)

My daughters and I will be skipping this. Besides, they are more pumped for Thor and The Hobbit...yup, I'm raising them right.

Way to take the higher ground Mellow.

I've always been fond of the saying, "Arguing on the Internet is like competing in the Special matter who wins at the end of the day everyone is still retarded."

Now I going to return to my spot in hell for saying that.

Boy, I'm torn here. I have to leave today for business travels for an entire week and I so want to see this movie but now all the mix reviews between the critics and fans alike. *Sigh* Feels like one of those movies that everyone want so badly to like so they'll latch on to anything (i.e. The Duel of the Fates in the Phantom Menace). I'm with so many on here that I too grew up idolizing heroes like Spiderman, Batman and most importantly Superman. I can't tell you how many times as a kid I watched Superman 2 and simply loved it. Now this latest version comes to surface with a stellar cast who has the potential of making this great and more dimensional mixed in with talented writers, directors and producers...yet mixed reviews?! It is going to kill me as more of this stuff comes in this coming week and I can't validate it myself. I feel like Rob is a pretty straight shooter on his reviews and if he is conflicted than there is good reasons for that. Hope the rest of you maniacs keep chiming in this week with your reviews too. Give me some more hope that we might finally be capturing that Superman magic that will spark the 5 year old in me again with awe.

Sidenote: I've been a comic book fan for almost 30 years now and am I the only one who continues to scratch his head when Hollywood fails on any movie based on characters that in some cases have 70 years of material behind them? Always seems like a slam dunk if they just read some of the stories and find the heart of why these characters have lasted so long and have such a following. Too many egos and suits involved I suppose. :(

Saw yesterday with the wife and kiddos and think that a B rating sounds about right. Kept me entertained but probably would not go out of my way to see it again. Yet my kids and apparently the rest the kids in the theater loved it.

Mania Box Office Report: Iron Man 3, Still on Top (Article) - 5/13/2013 3:56:26 PM

Can't wait for Star Trek this weekend. Probably my most anticipated film this summer, sure hope it doesn't disappoint. As for IM3, I'm still on the "Meh" train. Sorry, really didn't do anything for me and felt like this last one went out with more of a whimper than a bang. Oh, and no matter how well it did in the box office it will not make me change my tune about the overall story and film. I am looking more forward to RDJ returning in the cast of Avengers. Before I would have said that I love his stand alone performance but now I'd actually rather see his interaction with a strong cast than in his own IM films. I'm going to move over here now as all the Marvel tinted glass wearing fans scream and call me hater. ;P

I understand the cash cow mentality but my comments where directly related to film and story. The way IM3 ended was a fizzle and if I was to compare it to any other Disney franchise I'd say Pirates of the Caribbean. The first one was great but by the time you got to the third...the story was just losing steam. Yet, like you are pointing out JackTChance that the third installment was still a big cash cow for Disney to continue forward with the fourth film. Though that was crap too. Sure it made money in the theaters but should had it been made from a story perspective? No. I'm fine with RDJ doing more Avengers but I had heard that this was his last IM film and I'd honestly like to see another to capture the fun of the first but if it keeps on this track leave the expired milk on the shelf.
