Mania Box Office Report: Dark Knight RISES (Article) - 7/30/2012 7:00:52 AM

I too finally saw TDKR this weekend and what a truly epic film it was. I absolutely loved how they worked in the detective part of Batman with Blake. Yet, like the Avengers I felt both movies suffered a little from slow starts. Though both films truly picked it up on the back half. To me, Batman felt more heart felt and (if I dare say this about a superhero film) real. I felt like Nolan has done a wonderful job in his trilogy to really capture a hero struggling against a mastermind, a complete pyscho and now a tyrant. Where as Avengers was just a badass comic film with a lot of eye candy and fun! Overall, tip my hat to both films and point and laugh at the Marvel and DC guys fighting it out as if it really matters which was a better film or made more money. To me, I'm the winner since I truly enjoyed both films!! What an epic summer it has been on the big screen.

Man of Steel Pa Kent Teaser Trailer (Article) - 7/23/2012 2:07:46 PM

Looks good to me. Personally, would like to see them take a new spin from the dork that works as a journalist. This feels a lot more grittier and more of a character in natural conflicts with who and what he is to become. I'm game with this new approach. Spiderman was epic and this looks like it will be good too. Can't wait to see more on where they plan on taking this new angle.

Good call Hanso, you type spoiler and I won't read it.

I couldn't agree with Jedibanner more. We come to this site because we all share the same passions and love for movies, games, comics and toys. We also all know what spoilers are and understand that they have got their name from the fact that they do indeed spoil the enjoyment for someone who is passionate. Sure, this is a movie site that we speculate and talk about these sort of things but we should all know the time and place for that. Less than 12 hours after a movie releases in the movie review is not it. I just want to thank those that do have enough consideration for their fellow maniacs and use some consideration when posting an item that they feel might ruin the experience for others and label it with the SPOILER tag. Logic says to expect that at a site like this you'll see spoilers but common human decency says to think about others before you post something that they might not what to see at that exact moment. You are telling me that typing S-P-O-I-L-E-R takes that much effort before you post?

Man, that LSF of Dr. Doom was incredible over at Sideshow's booth. I would definitely have that one in my list.

WRECK-IT RALPH Update (Article) - 7/19/2012 1:26:55 PM

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer 4 HD (Article) - 7/19/2012 7:57:44 AM

Yeah, I think I'm just going to go see it and enjoy it. Haven't been a huge fan of either two previous films but they have been good enough to keep my attention and be entertaining. I expect this one will do the same. I'm just glad I spent more of my youth reading Marvel and Image than DC. The only reason I have some Batman knowledge is that the animated series came out when I was in middle school and I learned all my lore from that.

@karas1 – There are several ways marketers can get those numbers. People can opt into a survey, they can set up focus groups at certain theaters, etc... Then after they have determined a feasible amount of numbers (the marketing department can set this to be anything they want) they will produce a metric study on their findings. Is it accurate? To their numbers it is and that's all they need to be held accountable for. If they can provide a study with accurate numbers pulled from it, then they are good to go. Does their studies accurately depict who and what age are actually going to that film throughout the world? More than likely, no. Hence why you never buy too much stock into any numbers provided for consumers since the studies can be made to look whatever way they want. For Ice Age, it appears they want to hit young moms and their kids so hence the numbers favor more women and audiences in their 20s.
