Image Comics' Super-Heroes
By: Rob AllstetterDate: Friday, August 09, 2002
Image Comics will launch a super-hero line in January with four new titles joining ongoing series SAVAGE DRAGON and NOBLE CAUSES.
The new books will be VENTURE by Jay Faerber and Jamal Igle, Dominion by Keith Giffen, The CLOCKMAKER by Jim Krueger and Matt Smith and Invincible by Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker.
Jim Valentino's SHADOWHAWK will return at a to-be-announced date.
"We're trying to fill a void," Image's Eric Stephenson says "We'd like to have one super-hero universe, sort of like in Image's early days."
Stephenson also provided us a rundown on upcoming projects:
* FOUR LETTER WORLDS, a four-issue anthology that will include such creators as Faerber, Giffen, Krueger, Geoff Johns, Devin Grayson, Colleen Doran, Brian K. Vaughan, Jimmy Palmiotti and Mark Ricketts.
* A MISTER X hardcover collection.
* A new TELLOS project by Todd Dezago, Mike Wieringo and Craig Rousseau.
* A MICRONAUTS-based KARZA mini-series by Krueger and Steve Kurth.
* FIREBREATHER, by Phil Hester and Andy Kuhn, described by Stephenson as "What if Fin Fang Foom married a human and had a child."
* A BASTARD SAMURAI trade paperback.
* MICRONAUTS goes monthly with #5.
* HAWAIIAN DICK, a three-issue mini-series by B. Clay Moore and Steve Griffen, described by Stephenson as "THE ROCKFORD FILES in Hawaii."
* DIORAMA, a black-and-white crime graphic novel by Ricketts and Dario Brizuela.
* OXIDO, by Larry Hama and Pablo Raimoni, from Devil's Due.
