The first image of Iron Man in his suit has shown up online courtesy of IGN. You can view it to your left.

The image is likely one of the suits Stark uses before finally settling on the sleak and snazzy suit from the comics.

In Iron Man, troubled billionaire Tony Stark creates a life support suit to assist him after a life threatening accident. He ultimately decides to use its technology to fight evil and crime.

Iron Man hits theaters on May 2, 2008.

Well they couldn't have the movie without the original suit making an appearance before bringing out the updated version.

look good, must be the first prototype he use for escape the bad guys in the opening scene, after he will modifie the armor and use the gold and red color, i hope so.....

god its gorgeous, and i don't mean it sarcastically, you can totally tell that its a step to the final suit, I love the fact that it's so nitty gritty. I love it, its great, don't talk shit about it, bc i know somebody will think that its the final suit. I know its hard here on mania.com but hold your tongues (so to say.)

Reminds me a bit of the classic mixed with a bit of War Machine. I never was a big Iron Man/Avengers fan until I read "The Ultimates", but I've come to appreciate Iron Man and the rest of the Avengers more in the past few years. I think the movie could be good.

Only the reflective red and gold color will be painted in the form of a bull's eye target, with a sign in the back of the suit that says "Kick Me!"

Half the idiots at Aintitcool started dumping on it cos it's so crappy and isn't read and gold.
The other half is filling them all in on the first suit.

I say it looks cool for something some prisoner cobbed together in his spare time while being forced to build weapons.

It definitely looks pretty cool. Anyone who remembers how bulky and ugly his original suit was can definitely identify with it. The only big difference is the gun on the arm.
This is looking better and better.

This looks perfect for the prototype suit. The director and cast had me excited for this film, and now that I've seen the first suit, I can't believe I have to wait until next year to see this film. I'm looking forward to seeing the other suits in the film and how they cross over into the world of CG.

As far as the coloring goes, of course it's not red and gold. The colors didn't come until later. The suit went from bulky gray to bulky yellow before being trimmed down to the original red and gold suit that we all identify with the "golden avenger."
