Walker No Longer in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS?

It's been rumored for weeks now that stage actor Benjamin Walker has been cast in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class movie. Initial reports from Showbiz411 had him pegged for the role of Hank McCoy (aka The Beast), while Deadline said that Walker is in the movie, but not as McCoy.

Now, the UK's Daily Mail adds an interesting wrinkle to Walker's story. They claim Walker was, in fact, signed on for the role of the Beast. However, Fox apparently wanted to release Walker from his contract since, at 26, he was too close to the age of Michael Fassbinder and James McAvoy, who are playing Magneto and Professor X.

Then, confusing the issue further, Fox had trouble finding a suitable replacement and allegedly re-offered the role to Walker.

The Daily Mail claims that at this point Walker is definitely off the movie.

Manly Old Spice Man Lobbies for LUKE CAGE Role

G4's Attack of the Show had a fun segment with Isaiah Mustafa, who you may know as the hyper-capable macho man in the new wave of Old Spice commercials.

They devote the segment to looking behind the scenes of the latest spot, but towards the end Mustafa reveals his superhero ambitions.

"I'm a comic junkie, myself. Please get this thing going. I want to be Luke Cage," the actor said. Fans are then encouraged to support Mustafa's bid via Twitter. So we can add him to the list that includes such names as Jennifer Love Hewitt, David Glover and James Preston Rogers of actors using the social web to try to land superhero roles.

In the mean time, look for more of the actor in upcoming Old Spice Commercials, as well as the just-filming Free Enterprise 2.

Here's the clip:

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley on the set of TRANSFORMERS 3

TRANSFORMERS 3 Awesomeness In Chicago

A number of photos and videos are emerging from the set of Transformers 3 in Chicago.

First up, Coming Soon has shots of Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley getting in and out of cars under the direction of Michael Bay.

Then, you can click over to Ain't it Cool for some images of a crater impact that's been constructed for the shoot.

Most interesting is this video of an interior set that's mounted on a massive gimbal that is capable of titling one end some 40 feet in the air. We're guessing Shia and company are going to be inside getting thrown around in some sort of Autobot instigated mayhem.

Check it out:

New CONAN Images Online

A handful of new images from the set of Conan have appeared online, making a better case for Jason Momoa in the lead role than the previous ones we've seen.

A number of action images, featuring the barbarian in conflict with some kind of flipping albino warrior have surfaced on a Jason Momoa fan site. Click through to view the entire set.

A more impressive shot comes from a magazine photo from a foreign-language market. It was revealed  on the message boards at, but a cleaned up version (which eliminates the binding seam from the magazine) has been making the rounds.

Dude looks like Conan in that first shot....could be good?

I don't really care about X Men, there's nothing at the moment that makes me want to get excited about it. Maybe after some photos come out with them in costume, but until then,,,,

The guy from the Old Spice commercials will never be taken seriously, plus I don't think he would be able to pull it off....I hate to say this, but Tyreese Gibson would be a better choice at the moment...

The Armored Adventures aren't really that good.  The teenager angle was pulled off so much better in X-Men: Evolution. That said I thoroughly enjoyed the Michelinie/Bagley run on ASM...

Black Panther and Nick Fury in the Avengers cartoon? Not shocking but it's the white version of Fury, then I'll be surprised...

No, you can't have McCoy be the same age as Xavier or Magneto.  I'm actually surprised Fox executives even noticed or cared for that matter...

I really don't care who plays Luke Cage. I think the property would be best served shifted to the TV division.

The way they shoot those Old Spice commercials is amazing.  Great video.

Cheesey1 7/5/2010 8:30:45 AM

Unfortunately he's a bit old now, but Michael Jai White would've been a perfect Luke Cage.  Not sure who they should cast now (no Tyrese please), but he should definitely be young enough.  It could definitely be a big screen flick.  A budget of about $75MM could defintely bring good old Power Man to life. The film should be just like the character.  Gritty, tough, explosive, and still a classic Marvel character who has his heart in the right place and even more so than some other Marvel chaacters, is very much a part of the "real world."  Singleton to direct.   Even a Heroes for Hire flick could work, as it would as a TV series,  but I think that the big screen would be great.

After seeing some set images of Conan I wasn't imprssed, but I have been from the latest images. Images don't make a movie though and Nispell is kind of hit or miss with his movies. I'm looking forward to seeing the first trailer.

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that although the next X-Men movie is due out next year that Fox doesn't have a cast? I'm tired of all the rumors, cast the freaking picture. And, I know it's too much to ask after the last two X-movies, but could we have a quality movie and not just a studio cash cow film?

krathwardroid 7/5/2010 10:46:12 AM

The Old Spice commercials are awesome. I would totally be down for Isaiah Mustafa being Luke Cage!

Cool images of Conan! Momoa definitely looks like him, no doubt!

Alright, which Transformer is tilting that structure and making Shia, or whoever it is inside, scream? :P lol!

axia777 7/5/2010 1:06:29 PM

Conan is going to OWN.  No doubts at all as long as they stick to the original books.  If they do that they are GOOD!  :D

X-Men?  HAHAHAHAHA!  It is DOOMED as long as Fox is as the reigns.  DOOOOOOOOMED I tell you!!!!!  Marvel is their only hope!

axia777 7/5/2010 1:08:16 PM

- Also, if Isaiah Mustafa wants to be Luke Cage he NEEDS to get HUGE.  He is way to small to be the Cage man.

RoninLogan23 7/5/2010 1:54:51 PM

From What I've seen of Momoa as Conan, I have to say that I'm prettty excited for the upcoming movie.

I 've always gravitated towards Taye Diggs for Luke Cage.  In my opinion, He's always had the perfect build and look for Cage.

axia777 7/5/2010 2:42:02 PM

Even Taye Diggs would have to get HUGE for being the Cage man and that is a FACT.
