I never saw the interview where the new Conan makers said they were going for the hardest R possible. Lets hope that actually pans out. I think Momoa looks great as the new Conan, closer to REH's vision, but is it perfect? Of course not, there will never be a perfect incarnation on screen for any adapted character IMO.

There will always be those who will find fault or reason to complain. I just hope for a solid story with the things that make conan great... T&A, Drinking, Violence, Thievery, demons & monsters.

If they are truly going hard R I expect to see Rambo-like violence (the newest one). That may be expecting too much though.

Well I can attest fallensbane that I in fact did see the creators of the new Conan say that they want to make the new movie off of the original books which are Rambo-like violence.  They said that they want the hardest R they can get.  They made a point to say that they first Conan movie was not very faithful to the original Conan books by Howard.  They seem to be HUGE fans of the Howard books and low fantasy in general.  This bodes news coupled with this new imagery of Momoa.  I have high faith that the new Conan movie is going to be WAY better than the original Conan movie and the naysayers be damned.

Ronan was never a really great part in SG:A.  The show revolved around the chemistry between Shepard and McKay, Teyla and Ronan were just sort of there.  Particurlarly in season 2, when the character premiered, Ronan was pretty cardboard, though on re-evaluation, that could have been a deliberate choice to play the character that way as he was supposed to be kind of nervous and feeling like he didn't fit in.  Also he was tortured by the Wraith and hunted for sport and had a touch of PTSD.

The few episodes in seasons 3-5 which spotlighted the Ronan character, Jason Mamoa did pretty well.  He can play pissed off really well which bodes well for his performance as Conan.  Also, he really looks the part.

I havea bad feeling about Conan.  Hope I am wrong.

@almostunbiased - Have you read the origianl Howard books or are you just a fan of the first Conan movie(s)?  Because in this case that makes a HUGE difference.

I've read only three books on this series and I enjoyed them. I'm looking forward to this, why is it that Solomon Kane hasn't been released over here? It's making a bomb over in the U.K

todd890 I have been wondering the same damn thing.  It is REALLY pissing me off that Solomon Kane is not out in America yet.  >:(

I asked about the film when I went to the local store about  when it was going to be released over here.

The employee said, we haven't a clue but you can get it from the UK on oline store.
