By: Karl Schneider
Date: Monday, March 26, 2007

The very first images of Sylvester Stallone in the upcoming film, John Rambo, have shown up online.

You can find them over here.

In the film, renegade Vietnam War veteran John Rambo comes out of retirement as a boat repairman in Bangkok to track down missionary aid workers who have disappeared in the jungles of impoverished Myanmar.

KJ's Take:  Well, looks like he's been putting all that HGH to good use!

Long hair and everything? Well at least it looks cool. The title has GOT to go, man. John Rambo.....yawn. How 'bouts Rambo Balboa?

ahem

Anywho, this might be a great movie. Rocky Balboa was a really good movie.

I hope nobody reading this assumes, because Stallone is using HGH, it’s a good idea to take it. As far as I know, there have been no long-term scientific studies of the the effects of HGH. There’s no doubt that short-term use has produced some positive results, but one shouldn’t jump to the conclusion that it is beneficial. Some scientists claim that users of HGH have an increased risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease. I would be very careful of using any substance whose claims were unsubstantiated by the scientific community.

The stills look interesting. It's interesting to see the Rambo pic here from 1985 and then see the new images 2007. 22 years certainly makes a difference.

And I agree with popa.

gee whiz, I`m going to go out and buy some HGH right now so I can be just like Rambo! Then I`ll go out grab an M-16 and start killing "bad guys".

But seriously, if you`ve only just heard of HGH after Stallone starting using it, you`ve been living under a rock eating pizza all day. HGH has been around for some time. 90% of the supplements taken by athletes and gym goers haven`t been substantiated by the scientific community. It takes the FDA forever to do that, so my advice to anyone thinking about taking anything like HGH is do the research, then make an informed decision.

That being said, Stallone looked better in Rocky than in these pics.

I wish he would have went or a different look. Rambo was from a different time. An aged Rambo would probably have changed a lot more... in my mind anyway... normally I would think this was sh@t but can't count Stallone out after Rocky Balboa, it was really well done.

The headband still necessary in '07? ugh.

I haven't seen Balboa. I'm waiting until MY midlife crisis to empathize with that one.

Wow he looks old and beat down. He didn't look that old in Rocky Balboa...

But we all know we'll go see it.

He does look "beat down," but that's the Rambo character. I would think that after the life he led, he would look like he'd been "shot at and missed, but shit at and hit." Rocky Balboa was a very fitting end to that character, and I'm hoping this movie does the same for Rambo. I'm almost hoping the character dies at the end of the film.

Wow... He looks really, really bad. I honestly thought that first pic was someone in a really bad rubber mask.

Stallone looks rough, I mean really rough. I can't believe he has the long hair and the headband. I agree with previous posters surely he could have gone with a more approach to his character. Guys I am really afraid this movie is going to suck. I mean Rocky Balboa was good, but the series was different than Rambo. We all wanted to see a better ending to Rocky's story then what happened in Rocky 5. After the turd burger that was Rambo 3 no one cared what happened to John Rambo. First Blood was great and the second movie was not that bad, but Stallone should still be doing community service for 3. And did I mention he looks way too old. If he was insistent on making another Rambo he should have thought about doing a remake of First Blood. Now I am not a fan of remakes, but I think I would prefer to see a modernized version of the first film than a geriactic Rambo. Now Indiana Jones is different it does not matter how old he is, he can still kick your butt. But Rambo? Let's call this movie what it really is a desperate attempt by a fading star to restart his career with an old character that everyone used to like. I know he has tried this before, but why doesn't he just move on and try to win back the public by playing more age appropriate roles?
