((Additional Info 'ere because my NIN Year Zero reply is in a thread that is no longer visible. I picked up the CD today and (ostensibly - Ed) I believe I've made a discovery that might be interesting to fellow NIN fans (like Jakester -Ed)))

Everyone else drinks the fucking water.

Capital g is one fucking awesome tune. Actually, the entire album is fantastic. I think it's Trent's best work overall.

I mean, TDS and The Fragile are genius works, don't get me wrong, but YZ is genius AND it's accessible. The fact that it's less introverted and more political and global-minded are also big plusses.

And people, if you have at least a passing familarity with the ARG, it will help your enjoyment of the disc all the more.

Sure, art is always open to interpretation by others, and if you find something in a work of art that wasn't intended by its author that doesn't mean that it's not a valid interpretation. However, if you have a sense of the inspiration for the work, you will get a truer appreciation of what its author intended.

And if that doesn't work, I've got something in my pants that you can suck. No really, I could really go for a good bj.

(- Jakester -)
Spoken like a true fellow strutalomaniac. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Gawd love ya Jakester.

Anyway, the link kept cuttin out before I could stream-jack it with audacity, so I've been holding off reviewing it until I picked up the CD itself. As usual it was properly priced, so I had no anti-compunction against paying for it.

Which I did today.

I've been injectin it directly into my cerebral cortex since.

I agree, Capital G kicks scrotum.

Trifecta Tracks that result in few billion synapses firing over 'ere at MaelstromHQ: The Great Destroyer, In This Twilight, Another Version of the Truth.

and Zero-Sum.

(making for a total of 5 in his trifecta - Ed)

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Nominally, I like to pick faves based on critical assessment -combined- with which tracks I've played the most, for a more rounded personal review, but at this point there are two problems with that:

1. This is a high-concept themed CD, ergo it's difficult to pull out singles when you're enjoying the whole package from beginning to end.

2. it's too early (for me) to pick faves based on replay factor, but if I had to guess based on the itch, I'd go with "In This Twilight" as fave track.

Subject to right click repeat amendment. Where applicable.

P.S: The CD's thermal coating is cool, I've just written the binary down, ran a google search for a binary decoder, and found a binary to ascii decoder here

http://nickciske.com/tools/binary.php

it translates as: exterminal.ne(square figure)

So I'm jumpin over to exterminal.net

Bingo.

It's a website.

Still loading, must be a heavy bandwidth page, no idea what's there yet.

Oh right, they nomened one of the Bureau of Morality's divisions "THE MAILSTROM"

wonderful - some people (read: paranoids - Ed) are going to insist I'm in cahoots with Reznor now.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA

(uh, for the record, I'm not - beyond the fact I've enjoyed injecting his CD's since Pretty Hate Machine and The Downward Spiral pretty well much defined the 90's musically for moi)

Anyway, awhile back I received an email titled,

YOU HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS UN-AMERICAN.

--------------------

ATTENTION!

The Bureau of Morality has identified you as A CONSUMER OF DISSIDENT
MATERIAL.

This is a one time warning. Any further attempts to view, consume, or
distribute un-american content will result in the loss of citizenship
increments and/or the imposition of fines, penalties, or imprisonment.

You have choices. Make the RIGHT ones.

Bureau of Morality
One Nation Under God.

---

Given the current political climate, Reznor and co are firing on all cylinders with this CD.

(patriotact*cough*patriotact*cough*)

..because if I hadn't suspected the email came from Reznor (it arrived a couple of daze after he inserted his email address to the Year Zero advance-preview CD's stream-link -Ed) I might have actually believed that a Bureau of Morality was incepted in the U.S and that I'd been targeted.

(gee I wonder why they'd target you Maelstrom? - Ed)

*cough*

Go Away Ed.

I 'aven't been a dissident.

..much.

..recently.

..that anyone can prove.
................(^still alive - Ed)

Not an entirely correct correction Mr. Edward Itor Ial.

Some of them can breath OK so long as nobody unplugs them.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Have you gotten a phone call from them yet?
www.freerebelart.com (do it to your friends (if you have any).
In the name section, put "password is resistence" and then put their phone number in the appropriate box.

(how can he have any friends Jakester, Maelstrom's a figment of MY imagination - Ed)

Hey Ed, why don't you stand on the spot marked X and pull on this rope please.

(oh I'm not falling for THAT again - Ed)

Pity.

Very cool, thanks Jakester!

*pause*

*bring* *bring* ..Telephone for you Ed!

(*slap forehead* - Ed)

How many times have you fallen for that, Ed? I'm guessing less than twenty in the past week, but before that....Well, I'll need to take off my pants to count higher.

The game's on hiatus for a while. It'll be back, though.
