What They Say
Throughout history, an elemental force roams the world, bringing death and destruction. Upon seeing her, men and women willingly bring down their societies for just a few moments of contact with her body. She exists only to destroy and legends precede her appearances. She's as evil as she is innocent, as retiring as she is seductive, and as beautiful as she is terrifying. She is--Maya. Warning: Contains graphic violence and sexual situations; absolutely not for viewers under 18 years of age.

Hers is a tragic destiny: even she is powerless to stop the destruction that she brings. Not a demoness. Not a witch. She is far more powerful than either. She is a force of nature who possesses a horrible sexual talent to utterly destroy everything she comes in contact with. Many have tried to if not stop her at least slow her down and escape, but how does one slow a Hurricane or Earthquake? And Maya is more powerful than eitherand more seductive than anyone ever seen!

Theres supposed to be a place high in the mountains that men never return from. Oh, theyre usually told that something horrible and certainly fatal goes on up there but few believe it.

The legend usually goes that there is a cursed place in the peaks where a demoness waits for unwary men, and that their fate is sealed when she sees them. Legends are, of course, mostly fiction and the mountain pass seems a convenient one so thee are always some who will take it. However, most legends sometimes contain an element of truthand some legends quite a bit more than others.

The Review!
Taking a turn for the different from the first two volumes, Imma Youjo slides back in time to feudal Japan and a bit of demonic fun with strangers.

Audio:
As with the first disc, the only audio included is the Japanese track. Dialogue is clean and undistorted throughout as well as the high notes achieved by the women in their moments of passion. There's hardly anything in the way of directionality here, though the ambient music makes decent use of the left/right speakers.

Video:
For the most part, a pretty solid transfer with no problems beyond a few rainbows here and there and the occasional jaggie. Blacks looked solid and the areas that are intentionally soft look good without breaking up.

Packaging:
While not as strongly noticeable as it was with Cool Devices, Imma Youjo definitely lets the consumer know it's not for kids! Once you get past the warnings, you've got a fairly dark but well done front cover that's not really that big on titillation but more on danger with Maya running away with her clothes in tatters. The back cover gives a series synopsis as well as an episode synopsis and a few shots of the animation. No insert is provided.

Menus:
These are pretty well done menus. There's music playing in the background and the main page has a pretty decent amount of animation playing throughout it. Selections are accessed quickly.

Extras:
The only extra included is a brief video photo gallery that covers just this episode.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Ah, the good old days of feudal Japan. Where a wandering warrior could stumble across an exiled princesses castle and find himself being easily seduced by her. Never mind that whole spider demon thing though!
Imma Youjo goes back in time with a tale of two women living in the deep forest on a mountain side. Maya's the servant girl who was abandonded in the forest many years ago who works for the exiled daughter of a noble's mistress named Akina. Maya gets rescued by two warriors who are trying to cross the mountain before nightfall after hearing the tales of men being devoured alive by something.

Shinbei is automatically attracted to Akina once he meets her, and in his own amusing way does his best to make a good impression and seduce her. Akina though is already ready to be seduced and makes a few of the first moves.

Jyurota falls pretty hard for Maya, and each couple manages to pair off fairly easily and enjoy themselves... at least until the spider demon makes its presence known and the dying starts.

The animation style is pretty similar to the past episodes, though the character design for Maya is slightly different, at least in hair color and little bits here and there. Akina seems to actually get more screen time than Maya, but everyone makes out in the end.

Oh man, that is just too bad of a pun. I apologize.

While not my favorite of the series, Imma Youjo 3 is pretty good stuff. No tentacles, unless you count a spider leg or two.
