He'll be joining Rachel Weisz (mother), Ryan Gosling (father), Stanley Tucci (killer) and Saoirse Ronan (girl).

Plot Summary: Centers on a young girl who is murdered but continues to observe her family on Earth after her death. She witnesses the impact of her demise on her loved ones, while her killer skillfully covers his tracks and prepares to murder again.

I can't say I'm a big fan of the casting on this film. Grosling seems strangley out of place in his role and Imperioli is so iconic as Christopher from Sopranos, it will distract from the film. I have to say, I felt Jackson's casting in LOTR was inspired, but his follow up King Kong and Lovely Bones leave something to be desired. It is like he purposely tries to miscast, but the trick no longer works for me. IMO, the miscasts of Jack Black and Adrian Brody in KK just never clicked (well, there were a lot of things I found wrong with that film from the juggling act to Kong ice skating like he was in a Coca Cola commercial to the simple fact that it was just too much and too long.) But, I digress. I’m glad to see he is doing a much smaller film, I just wish he would work on his casting choices. I know I might get some flack for expressing this concern because so many consider Jackson a cinema god. I like his work and I enjoyed the LOTR films. That said, I’m not overly disappointed that he may not be involved in The Hobbit. It is a much lighter tale and I’d really like to see someone like Raimi helm that project. Actually, I just want to see that project move forward. But, then again, I’ve always been a bigger fan of The Hobbit than the LOTR trilogy. Just a personal choice. And, it should be more accessable to the audience…both adults and children. Heh, all that rambling from a casting choice.

I might agree with you on that, Cappy. Gosling is beginning to wear on me...he's got this formulaic way of going about his business that's starting to grate on me.

But then again, Weisz is fantastic, Tucci is a legend, and I'm even willing to give Imperioli a shot.

I think that's the reason why Imperioli should be given a chance...to break the sterotype...it could be an interesting piece if he can break the mold of what he's done....I like the casting choices here ....and it's true Cappy...that PJ shouldn't be involved with The Hobbit.

I think that once a trailer has been distrubuted, that concerns can be addressed or re-assured...depends on how you look at it.

Before seeing "Half Nelson" I would've agreed with you, but after seeing Gosling in that movie, I have to admit that the man has some acting chops. After seeing him as a drug-addict inner-city teacher, I'm pretty sure he can pull this off.

I think Ryan Gosling is an amazing actor,,,,I think this will prove he can hold his own against any big name star. Sorprano boy does seem a weird choice, but being I never watch the Sorpranos (even being a Jersey native), I think that he could work.
