Frank Darabont, rumored to be attached as writer to the long gestating INDIANA JONES 4 for a week or so, has been outed officially by VARIETY, and it now seems Paramount Pictures is moving full ahead with plans to bring the fourth film to fans in 2005.
To reflect, it's been almost ten years since George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford decided that INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE wasn't going to be the final JONES film after all. Since then, they've gone through several scripts by half a dozen writers, and none have panned out.
Previously, Darabont cut his Lucasfilm teeth by writing episodes of YOUNG INDIANA JONES.
Though the details of the plot isn't known, VARIETY reports the story came from Lucas and will be fleshed out into a full script by Darabont, now that Spielberg and Ford have signed off.
