Indiana Jones 5 Update

Lucas not writing it yet

By Robert T. Trate     July 23, 2012

George Lucas is not writing Indiana Jones 5, yet. Producer Frank Marshall debunks that rumor, as well as some of the early reports about Jurassic Park IV.

Crave Online got to speak to producer Frank Marshall this weekend for The Bourne Legacy. Bourne is only one of major franchises Marshall produces. He’s been with the Indiana Jones, Jurassic Parkand many other classic Amblin franchises in his decades-long career.
So when we started asking about George Lucas’s progress with the fifth Indiana Jones screenplay, he set us straight. As far as I know he’s not writing a fifth Indy, Marshall said.
This contradicts reports from others close to the Indy franchise. Both Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford have said that Lucas is working on a follow-up to Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. But Marshall would certainly know if there was a script in progress.
“I think he’s thinking about ideas but he’s certainly not writing one,” Marshall said. “We’d love to keep the series going but again it’s got to be a really good story. They’re hard to do.”
Rumors of Jurassic Park IV keep coming and going too. Marshall said this sequel is closer to fruition than you might expect. “It’s got new life, he said. “It’s in development. It’s got new life. I can tell you that that is moving forward.”
Some early reports suggested that the plot is about the government developing weaponized dinosaurs. Well, non-spoiler alert... that’s not true. So there’s still a chance you could be surprised by the plot of the next Jurassic Park movie!

“No, no, that’s another rumor,” Marshall said about the armed dinosaur idea. “That’s not it.”

I would rather have no sequels to either franchise rather tha have to sit through them if Lucas wrote them.  He's gotten stale, and greedy.

I would be willing to bet good money there will never be an Indiana Jones 5.  I would have said that making one this year would have been pushing it.   As it is, by the time everyone had the time and they all agreed on a script Harrison Ford is likely to be 75, minimum.

As forJurassic Park 4?  Meh.  People getting chased and eaten by dinosaurs.  Yawn.  It would have to have an amazing hook to bring me into the theater.

How about the cast of celebrity survivor crash land on dino-island and try to survive....lol the promos can have Richard Simmons running screaming high pitched into the forest! lmao

Indiana J.5, why not? Jurassic Park 4, hell that's good too. it's all good..

"it’s got to be a really good story."

After Star Wars Eps 1-3 and Indy 4 I doubt that my concept of what makes a good story and Lucas' are anywhere near each other anymore.

And yeah, I'm giving him a hall pass on Howard the Duck.

I5?  Well, didn't they REALLY wrap things up in the last one?  Indy is old.  He shouldn't be able to perform like a 20 year old.  He got married.  It is assumed, god help me, that Mutt would eventually take his place.  Really, after seeing Indy 4...I wish they'd just let him ride off into the sunset after 3.

How about...try a new idea!   Besides, isn't Lucas retired?  He wants to make experimental movies in his garage.  Let him.

Wow...8 comments before mine and nobody is bashing "Lucas haters" yet?  I'm astounded.  Lucas is like the guy that used to be my favorite uncle until his fall into senility became too painful to watch.  I'll always love him for what he did for movie-making in his brash, young kid of Hollywood days, but I really don't want anything more from him.

Huh.... so there was a script in the works, but it turns out there isn't?  Guess that makes this more of a "downdate."
