Jarrod I am not clear is this new Indy novel the movie adaption or an original story? Either way I am excited because Rollins is a great author. Kudos to Del Rey for nabbing one of the top adventure/scifi writers of the day to handle Indy. Even if Indy IV is subpar I know that Rollins novels about Indy will be greatness.

DarkJedi, A Quentin Tarantino movie doesn't fall under your site focus? Why the hell not? You guys post news about the show CSI, (which actually to me that show almost is science fiction) don't you think fans would want to know about a Tarantino film? Because I sure didn't know about it.

You know, I never really did understand the idea of a novel tie-in to a big movie. I understand more tie-ins means more moolah for the distributors but do they really profit off novelizations of movies? Video game tie-ins I get, action figures I get, soundtracks I get, but not novelizations. I don't dispute the writing talents of authors contracted to write these books, but I can't help but wonder how much money studios make off these books.

Yeoman, Tarantino has announced his desire to make a sex film...a sex film based on 70s European porn. Here's a quote. "..a cool sex movie that would take place in Stockholm, with a couple of Americans visiting a couple of Swedish friends..just going out drinking, having a good time, hooking up. If I actually do an erotic movie, I'm going to have to reveal what I find sexy, what turns me on..It' got to be kind of kinky, because that's what's cinematic, that's what fun. Everything else is just - shagging." Mania covers genres like Sci Fi/Fantasy/Action/Horror/Thrillers/Comics/Crime Thriller..That sort of thing....A sex porn story would be really stretching things a bit, Yeo. :) I'm not sure why Tarantino thinks a sex porn idea is better then Inglorious Bastards or the long developed Vega Brothers but oh well..

I don't know exactly what Tarantino's plan is, although I have often accused him and his movies of being A-Sexual, replacing sex with violence. This argument I am certain he is now well aware since I brought it up repeatedly on another site with direct ties with, and to him. But about his new film, which seems aimed at blunting such criticisms...it will be in 3D for some reason...an interesting bit of news as it appears that elements of the film will be experimental...what, I don't know??? That said, I assume based upon his strong interest in mixing 3D with this film project's central and sexual exploitation aspects, that it will have some kind of strong genre fantasy elements...hence the planned use of the 3D effect...or why else would 3D be employed in this movie??? BTW, he made mention of a possible Women In Prison theme...as well as a Cheerleader film. Whether this was just a for instance style speculation...or more to the direction of the actual film who knows??? But a Women In Prison film, if indeed that is his intented format, would fall under the action film genre...and would serve to explain his focus on 3D as a main element in the production.

Best spoiler in the history of TV and cinema: Homer walking out of theater from watching Empire Strikes Back and exclaiming loudly: "Who would've thought Darth Vader was really Luke Skywalker's father!" It was funny hearing that line when people were coming out of the theater after watching Empire Strikes Back Special Edition. Some good points there Jarrod.

I remember that Simpson's episode, freaking hilarious! Jedi, Tarantino talks out of his ass sometimes, he was probably drunk too. I don't think he's going to make a sex movie, that's the stupidest thing I ever heard. He better be very careful what he picks to do next, considering his last movie bombed horribly, even though I loved it, but I don't think anyone would want to see a sex movie, tits and action yeah.

I don't think he cares anymore. The guy is deeply insulated by everyone who surrounds him. Besides, Vincent Gallo...did some porn in Brown Bunny...with the lengthy and real oral sex scene and it didn't hurt Chloe Sevigny's career...as she is now starring on HBO's series Big Love...and the media never even mentions Brown Bunny in interviews with her...they just ignore it like a bunch of pre-programmed zombies. Short Bus was a porn film (presented as an art film), and in Europe they have been getting meanstream actors to do real sex scenes in movies for years--one of them having been shown at Canne about 7 or 8 years ago. And there is some question as to whether a scene in Angel Heart and another Micky Rourke film were real...as well as a scene or scenes in Boogie Nights and Monster's Ball. I can remember several people making claims about the American films, I just mentioned above. One famous American actress, I forgot who, claimed that she had been hearing information about this stuff for sometime--that actors and actresses in meanstream movies were having sex in films and getting away with it. The iterverview was carried in a magazine article...which, by coincidence, or perhaps not, came out just after the release of Monster's Ball. She, the actress in question, did not give the names of the films or actors/actresses involved, however...there was strong speculation that Monster's Ball was indeed one of those films. And did you notice how Halle Berry dissed Billy Bob Thorton at the Oscars by pointedly not mentioning his name when she won her Oscar for Monster's Ball??? There were no thank you's issued, by Berry, to her co-star (Thorton), which goes against tradition. As I recall, she didn't mention him either in her acceptance speech or even backstage to the press core. In addition, after receiving criticism for her diss...she still said nothing...almost as if angry at Thorton for talking out of turn to someone about their sex scenes. Whether the latter occured or not...I don't know...but they're sure not friends. The last time I checked, he hasn't mentioned her name either since this incident...specifically the mag interview of that actress i talked about, the one who outed everybody, and The Academy Awards' ceremony when Berry won her Oscar. So what's up??? Me thinks those rumors about them are true and that Thorton may have helped to spread some of them...and perhaps other things. Mmmm??? Anyway...my point about all this is simple...Tarantino's thinking is this: Those other films, especially Brown Bunny and Short Bus, opened the door for him, and thus, he can get away with it. And I for one think that he is right. Will it damage his career??? Probably, but he is so rich now...like I said before, I don't think he cares anymore!!!

whoa metalwater, take a breath! But seriously how did this post on Indiana Jones turn into a sex movie rant? I love this site. Never saw Brown Bunny, but was she really going down on him or was it a prosthetic? And for some reason I doubt Halle Berry was actually having sex with Thornton, I think all that stuff is fake, it didn't look real either, like they were just rubbing against each other. But damn if she didn't get buck naked, yes sir. And I hope Tarantino isn't really doing this, I bet he was just thinking out loud. There is always some crazy rumor about him directing something, remember when he said he wanted to direct a Friday the 13th movie? That doesn't mean he is ever going to do it, although how cool would that be? Also, DarkJedi, how does CSI fit under your "site focus"? You guys don't post about Law and Order, or other cop shows. CSI is a procedural show, not action or sci-fi. I know you don't make all the decisions (or maybe you do, what do I know) but I was just curious. Oh and I can't wait for this so called "Iowa James" movie or whatever it's called.
