Gotta love the summer of 2009, a summer where people hate on Quentin Tarantino but praise Michael Bay and Stephen Sommers.

It's madness i tell ya, MADNESS!

JawbreakingEquilibrium, there's one thing if the dialog is actually saying something, it's another thing if the dialog is just there to hear yourself talk. John Millus' (the guy who taught Lucas and Spielberg, amongst others) famous quote of "show, don't tell" is completely wasted on someone like QT because he likes to hear himself talk. A lot.

And your denigration of people who don't like QT's verbal masturbation being written off as 'people who have no patience' and who want their 'crap NOW NOW NOW' like 'the Typical American' is completely bogus and just sour grapes because people don't agree with you. It would almost be as bad an assumption of me saying that you wouldn't enjoy the movie "Moon" because you like the explosions and wordy dialog of QT's movies.

Whats wrong with Liking Michael Bay AND Quentin Tatantino?

I like em both

Wow, one apparently can't even ARGUE about QT briefly and succinctly.

And I'm getting a strong smell of pretentious, elitist asshole from both sides here. How does that work?

QT can take my 11 bucks anyday. Especially if it has Tyler Durenesqe character in there! YES YES YES!

I will definitely see this movie just because of the premise but I'm torn on the whole "homage" thing.  I enjoy the music clips and obscure references from cult films but It bugs me when he lifts entire lines of dialogue from films and then is considered a great writer because of it.  I was really disappointed when I found out the Ezekiel speech in Pulp Fiction was taken from another film.  Especially since it's one of the coolest lines in the film it would be nice if QT had actually written it.  But at the same time, if you haven't seen the original film and don't know that what you're seeing has been taken from something else, then is there any harm done?  I don't know.

Love QT. Though I can understand the hate the guy still gave us Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill. I like all his flicks but those 3 are my favorites and they should be yours too, cause I said so

This looks kick butt, at first I wasn't too excited, but how can you not want to see Nazis getting killed.

scytheofluna 8/19/2009 7:58:49 PM

Tarantino can torture all of the Nazis he wants.  He can throw some KKK douchebags in for good measure.  I don't dig his friend Eli's torture porn movies, but Nazis are a whole other story.  Torture the hell out of those guys if it's part of an entertaining movie.   It's a context issue, and some people just don't dig Tarantino's work regardless of the immediate subject matter, which is not something I personally can relate to because I love the man's work. I do however have to contend with one sentiment that's been expressed here: Calling a famous woman that you don't even know names is just tacky and uneccessary.

I think that people have become way too comfortable just spitting bile at celebrities.  Where does all of this seething negativity come from?  Why are you so committed to your disdain for this director or that actress, (and I'm not even talking about just here on this thread)?  You gotta' admit, if you're posting here with no intention of seeing this film, blasting verbal kung fu and passionately expressing that you're an angry dude about who or what-ever, you have to know that it's not going to change anybody's mind right?  If you aren't into the film, don't go.  Nobody's strapped you into a theatre chair and forced you to see it, so why are you here?  Go see District 9, that's supposed to be pretty good, and the third season of Dexter just came out on DVD, maybe you should check that out.  Go for a walk, or read a book.  I'm reading World War Z and it's fantastic.  But seriously, hating on people you don't even know, and who have never personally wronged you in any way, is just a waste of calories and an expenditure of time that could be better allocated.  Plus it comes off as shallow and mean spirited.  Negativity is so passe.  Indifference is what's in these days.

You either get Tarantino or you don't, and that's not an insult, some people just don't like his stuff.   I like Wes Anderson and David Lynch's work too, and they also are aqquired tastes and are considered weird or lame to people who aren't me.   To each their own, but seriously, lay off of Angelina.  I don't care if you like the woman's work or not, that's somebody's mother,  and being hateful is just so f*cking cliche.

By the way Brad Pitt was already a huge star before Angelina entered the picture, everybody knows that.
