The Review!
For those who want to know right away, this is indeed a title with tentacles and several instances of non-consensual situations. Those interested, keep reading.

For our primary viewing session, we listened to this disc in its original language of Japanese. There's little beyond a basic stereo mixing here with the majority of the sound coming through the center channel. Dialogue is nice and clear and the music and ambient effects make decent use of the left/right channels. There's little here to really do much more than a basic track anyway.

Being originally released in 2000, the video transfer is nice and clean with a great looking picture. There was only one instance on the second disc during a slight darkened room that we saw what looked like some macroblocking going on in the characters legs and a general soft fuziness to the picture as well there. Colors throughout the show are nice and vibrant and there's no cross coloration or other shimmering issues.

The two keepcases for Inmu in the box get some nice covers with a mixing of the characters from the different stories on it. The covers do feel pretty busy though with the large character designs, the uncensored and adults only logos as well as the inclusion of the voice actresses pictures. The back covers show off some animation shots from each show and have a good summary of each episode. Features and technical information is nicely listed as well. The box set itself features the cover from the first volume while the back does a summation of the two keepcase backings. As with all NuTech releases to date, there is no insert included.

There's just something about menus whose selections are made up of one-eyed tentacles. There's a bit of animation and music that plays up to the point where the menu finalizees which then just has some background animation playing along with the instrumental music. The layout is pretty simple but nice and moving around the menus is very fast.

The main anime related extra is the inclusion of a video photo gallery showing various pieces of artwork from the show. There's also the inclusion of the voice actress video interview and video photo gallery.

This is a pretty short OVA release, though there's four stories spread across the two episodes. Each episode is split in half and tells one brief story, and they all have a common thread. The common thread being a half naked woman in a mask who continually asks people if they can see their backs. This is some kind of odd code that gets these people to try to and get their desires to come true, regardless of the risk.

The first one deals with college girl Yumi who feels that she's being constantly watched after she gets molested on the train. She eventually finds her way to a counseling place along the route to school where she meets the masked woman who tells her that she must face her fear and that there's something more to it. Yumi ends up falling deeper into her problem in a rather interesting way, but in the end the program is simply too short.

The second half of the episode is something of an amusing revenge episode, where a fashion designer uses her social status to continually put down one of her employees. She eventually humiliates him past the point of reason and she decides to fire him. The masked woman shows up as a fortune teller and gives her something of a warning, but she pays little attention and finds herself being kidnapped by her ex-employee. He begins to use creative ways to embarrass and humiliate her in public like she did to him.

The second disc features stories of about the same caliber, with a very tentacle related one in a school with an older female classmate and her adoration of one of the younger female members on the swim team. The one that has some real creepiness though is the last one with a woman whose fascinated by dolls in just about every way. It's a strange little tale as ones that involve dolls in anime usually are.

Inmu's not a bad set of stories, but they fall a bit flat and their length works against them rather than for them. Unless you just want to get right to the good stuff, which they do produce in spades.
